I never implied otherwise beyond the idea that having $640 to spend a month was fucking lucky. And I should probably clarify that the military didn't pay for my school while I was enlisted. They pay for it now, and give me $1240 a month, but I also work and make good money anyways.

No, a roommate doesn't enter into the equation. We're looking at cost per person. The person that 'fucked up' is shit out of luck, correct? No healthcare, no money for school, limited options, and that's too bad if they find themselves homeless because they were stricken with an illness than renders them unable to work for rent money, because they 'fucked up somewhere'?

That was presented where in your scenario? They don't have a family to support them in their time of need? They aren't capable of working at an intellectual level?

Yes, I spoke of ONE person, renting a room. That parameter was set in the first post I made about this hypothetical. Obviously you missed it.

It's a good start, and depending on the class, yes. Most colleges teach directly from the book. That's available at the library. Even useful in my line of work, which is very hands on.
