50 million to 100 million insurance policy cancellations right before 2014 Elections

Who does? That who do you think does?

Please be specific.

a dense cloud must have drifted across Bijou's sky.....that or she simply isn't observant......have any new laws passed requiring everyone to buy an insurance policy under penalty of law?.......have any insurance companies been given an excuse to raise premiums by as much as 400%.......have any laws passed making it mandatory for employers who previously didn't provide insurance to their employees to go out and shop for insurance?.......

anything here sound familiar?.....

How much has their profit been reduced. The cost of medical treatment rose this year by the lowest amount in 50 years. I thought you Republicans were all about keeping inflation under control. Or have you decided that inflation, especially in health care costs is now a good thing?

1) at the moment, it ISN'T being reduced....its being increased......Obama can remind them that if voters don't return Democrats to office, the gravy train may slow down....
2) the cost of medical treatment going down does NOT alter insurance company profits.....it alters the profits of health care providers.....
3) the cost of medical treatment did not go down.....it rose.....
4) inflation isn't "under control".....
5) don't even begin to pretend there is a co-relation between Obamacare and the cost of medical treatment......point to one single provision of the ACA that does ANYTHING to reduce the cost of treatment......

This looks bad for the Democrats in 2014, what else is new, it looks like deep doo doo for Libs.........
...."A new and independent analysis of ObamaCare warns of a ticking time bomb, predicting a second wave of 50 million to 100 million insurance policy cancellations next fall -- right before the mid-term elections.

The next round of cancellations and premium hikes is expected to hit employees, particularly of small businesses. While the administration has tried to downplay the cancellation notices hitting policyholders on the individual market by noting they represent a relatively small fraction of the population, the swath of people who will be affected by the shakeup in employer-sponsored coverage will be much broader".........

Really only a 100 million policies are going to be cancelled. I think you have been grossly misinformed. I heard the number was 500 million!

Everybody will be required under penalty of law?

Certain individuals will be exempt from Obamacare. According to the website, healthcare.gov, you may qualify for an exemption if:

  1. You’re uninsured for less than 3 months of the year;
  2. The lowest-priced coverage available to you would cost more than 8% of your household income;
  3. You don’t have to file a tax return because your income is too low;
  4. You’re a member of a federally recognized tribe or eligible for services through an Indian Health Services provider;
  5. You’re a member of a recognized health care sharing ministry;
  6. You’re a member of a recognized religious sect with religious objections to insurance, including Social Security and Medicare;
  7. You’re incarcerated, and not awaiting the disposition of charges against you; and
  8. You’re not lawfully present in the U.S.
It should also be noted that if your income is less than 133% of the federal poverty level, you will be relieved of this penalty. At first blush, the exemptions seem to focus on the poor, those in prison, Native Americans, and illegal immigrants. There is, however, another list of qualified exemptions.

Hardship Exemptions

This is the list I suspect holds the greatest potential for loop-hole abuse. You may qualify for a hardship exemption if:

  1. You were homeless;
  2. You were evicted in the past 6 months or were facing eviction or foreclosure;
  3. You received a shut-off notice from a utility company;
  4. You recently experienced domestic violence;
  5. You recently experienced the death of a close family member;
  6. You experienced a fire, flood, or other natural or human-caused disaster that caused substantial damage to your property;
  7. You filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months;
  8. You had medical expenses you couldn’t pay in the last 24 months;
  9. You experienced unexpected increases in necessary expenses due to caring for an ill, disabled, or aging family member;
  10. You expect to claim a child as a tax dependent who’s been denied coverage in Medicaid and CHIP, and another person is required by court order to give medical support to the child. In this case, you do not have the pay the penalty for the child;
  11. As a result of an eligibility appeals decision, you’re eligible for enrollment in a qualified health plan (QHP) through the Marketplace, lower costs on your monthly premiums, or cost-sharing reductions for a time period when you weren’t enrolled in a QHP through the Marketplace; and
  12. You were determined ineligible for Medicaid because your state didn’t expand eligibility for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
