Most seem to simply be anti-Christian. Probably something traumatic in their background but usually just the mental attitude of a rebellious teenager.

I noticed that. Your average atheist just wants to complain about Christianity but they almost always run for the hills or start cursing when their physical materialist worldview is heavily scrutinized and questions start being asked about it.

Einstein said most professional atheists are people who had a traumatic experience with their parents dragging them to church.

They tend to be white, male and under 35 with Christian parents.

Atheism is almost an exclusive club of young-ish white males who live in western nations. There has to be socioeconomic and gender bias reasons for that.

That Pew religion survey you referenced estimated that atheism as a percentage of the global population will decline by 2050, but it will continue to be a measurable minority in places like France, England, United States.
