Now, I may be accused of being a bigot, but my peronal experiences with the Southern Baptist make my radar go up whenever they are involved in anything, especially the military.

The are exclusionists. The feel their way to practice Christianity is the only way and they have very little or no tolerance for other religions. They call Catholics, idol worshippers.

In the 1980 there was a strong desire for ecumenism. I was on a council here in Anchorage, when we approached the local chapter of the SBC they refused. They did not want to do Bible studies or have services with the Catholics, Jews, Lutherns, ect.

I feel they are just too radical.

I do not feel they would promote tolernce between Muslim and Christian soldiers.

I believe the army should have services and chaplains available to soldiers, but I do not feel that your commanding officer should be evangelizing to his troops.

I believe my way is the only complete and proper way to practice Christianity, and I'm no Southern (Prole) Baptist... :D

I grew up a southern babtist, and I can tell you that there will never be enough prisons in their minds.

They would trade liberty for security in a heartbeat.

A Godless bunch of people for sure, but I've noticed that most religious people are like that to some degree.
