My point is there have already been reparations- and part of those are the blood, lives, and limbs of those who fought indiscriminately to free slaves and end slavery.

No YOU are blaming them, I never said that. They volunteered! I'm saying I can't equate them volunteering with reparations for slavery...….they weren't slaves. Kudos to them for fighting in a war their country started. It has absolutely nothing to do with reparations.
This isn't a problem of the past. Slavery begat police forces tasked with catching runaway slaves. That evolved slowly over time to the modern policing system we see today where a Black man laying on his back with his hands in the air gets shot by a racist cop.
A lot of the backlash toward the end of slavery took the form of trying to deny black people land rights. Guess what? Wells Fargo got in hot water two or three years back because they were giving worst interest rates to Black and Latino borrowers than they were their financially equivalent white counterparts. Can't own land w/o a mortgage, and if you go to the wrong bank, you can't get a fair rate on that loan if you're Black.

You know why Ben and Jamima are your uncle and aunt? Because racists couldn't handle calling Black people Mr and Mrs after the war ended. They used aunt and uncle instead.
I could go on, but suffice it to say that almost every aspect of modern racism has its roots in America's cultural and legal approach to slavery.
Also, regardless of when your family came here, we're all still currently, and actively using some pieces of infrastructure built by slaves, including the white house.
The idea that we should pretend we're talking about a problem that's completely over and done with is absurd.
