A LESSON FROM THE PAST

So I'm busted.....

Guess I should have done a little goggling before I passed this piece of "urban legion" along.....my bad...no doubt about that.....busted by Bfgrn!....I have to hang my head.:palm::palm::palm:
(and I owe you one, dude...lol)

I hate it when Snopes busts something I posted. I tell myself to check before passing stuff on, butlazy and I always end up forgetting.

No shame, Bravo.

From winning in Vietnam? Wow, that would be an impressive stretch.
The theory was that with more American influence in eastern Asia we'd be able to convert the Chinese to our way of thinking. It was one of the motivations behind Nixons China talks.

I'm not saying it would have actually happened, but that was our theory. That and more dead commies is always good.

Its quite irrelevant that the General didn't make the quote, etc....

Its not the reason I made the post to begin with....the Vietnam Nam war is long gone and water under the bridge....

The point was the "enormous power" or the press and the profound effect is surely does have on the perception and the beliefs the public holds....
The bias in todays media is not even denied by the press anymore because its so obvious, and the only debate is what effects it really IS responsible for.....
How many good people are demonized and how many unscrupulous crooks are not held to account for what they do.....but I guess that debate is now lost in the fog of the "gotcha on bravo"...
But, what the hell, ... its only a flesh wound..
:ouch:

And how many war mongers and torturers and outright murderers have been exposed? IE: WikiLeaks.

Thank God the press did report on the Vietnam War or people would still be dying over there!

And then there's the permanent bases in Afghanistan and Iraq. While troops are coming home how long will the lies continue regarding "we're leaving"?

thru incompetent military (or political) leadership ???
the pressures brought on by unfunded, unorganized hippy protestors.???

It would seem a man that ought to know, General Giap, doesn't agree with your opinion.....I'm inclined to give him the benefit of any doubt....

Naturaly you are gonna beleive the commie who wasn't even here at the time over the american who was.
