One should get what they pay for though. If they pay more, they should get better/more education. That is the way college should be, the professors should make a seperate deal with each student. Why have this socialized crap of college costing the same for everyone? Some can pay more so they should!

IMO, yes.So that would apply to health care as well Damo ? If one pays more for a procedure when paying cash vs insurance ?
IMO, yes.
If you pay a premium price you should get a premium service. Otherwise you are just spending a fool's money.
So there are different grades of surgery ? The operation with the dirty knife and the one with the clean one ?
Poor folks should get the outdated medicines too.
When did I say anything about those kind of judgment issues? So there are different grades of surgery ? The operation with the dirty knife and the one with the clean one ?

No, different levels of experience. If I pay more, I would like to have a doctor who has performed a certain surgery more than the usual and has a high rate of success. I would like to have the most up-to-date, state of the art equipment being used, and a the most competent staff the doctor can find.
When did I say anything about those kind of judgment issues?
When you say that the rich should pay more because they can, if they pay more then they should get more. If the prices are the same they should get the same. It is all in how we are looking at this.
You began stating that the rich should have to pay more for education than their counterparts. And I say, if they pay more they should get more from it.
IF somebody is getting charged more, regardless of how "rich" they are, they should get more. Therefore if society is going to pick up the check for those without insurance, and the price is higher because there is no insurance, then they should be getting better care than those slouchers who went and got insurance. Otherwise we, as a society, are simply spending a fool's money.
It does. And still I constantly speak against it. Fools in government are we, spending more than we can even comprehend. Fools in life are we, spending more than we'll ever see. Fools and their money are soon parted...
Our current economy depends on fools spending more money than they have.
Ohh so you think the medical industry needs more regulation , ranking and oversight ?

2.6 trillion in revenue. get all u want done with that. not a penny more.
When did I say that it was how it worked? I said that is how it SHOULD work. Quit emoting on a perfectly good reasonable thread. It gets it all sticky and gives everybody else a faint feeling that they need to shower. That's not how our healthcare system works compared to the French. It all goes into $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
And poor people DESERVE that TOO.
A patient should have the right to see a Dr's credentials. How many surgeries he's performed and the rate of success would be major factors in my decision to go with a certain surgeon, then I would seperate the list of surgeons into tiers and get an estimate of the cost to go with a surgeon from tier 1, tier 2, tier 3.... etc.
Figure out what tier I am looking at that I can afford with the amount I'm willing to pay and look for the cheapest surgeon in that tier.
