A prediction about the sad future of conservatism in America!

Alright, get this. The Washington Times, New York Post, and all of the other conservative propaganda outlets (save Fox) have all lost millions and millions of dollars. By some estimates, the Washington Times has lost BILLIONS. These people have never made a dime. The owners are throwing away millions every year to keep them afloat. They can't survive in the free market. They simply don't have the readership to support them. They are entirely dependent on the millions and millions of dollars being flushed down the toilet every yet by the owners.

Alright, most of these guys are pretty old. A death, a divorce, or just a loss of patience means these things are going to fold immediately. That means a huge collapse of the conservative propaganda machine that is responsible for what little power they have managed to hold on to.

You see people from the Washington Times and New York Post quoted all the time. I saw one of their people sitting next to some actually respected journalists on a Sunday political show just this week. When these things go, the future does not look bright for the conservatives.

My prediction -- within 10 years the propaganda machine that allows conservatives to create the impression of having a legitimate viewpoint will collapse for financial reasons and the GOP will be history.

you're such a moron....have you not seen all the liberal rags filing for bankruptcy or shutting down written editions...

no wonder you want a secret section of the board where you can debate...you embarrass yourself and obviously need other people who think JUST like you in order for you to feel smart..

What newspaper is making money? All one has to do is follow the stock and earnings of the NY Times, our supposive top paper, to see how bad its doing. And don't you work in the industry? It can not come as a surprise that the newspaper industry is doing poorly. Didn't Seattle lose a daily paper just recently to on-line only? The SF Chronicle is the biggest paper in the Bay Area and there have been talks about it shutting down.

And death of the GOP? Since you're not the only one to say this do people really have that short of memories to think voters don't get tired of one party and then vote for the other? Only an extreme partisan mindset, imo, cannot realize that.

There's no comparison between any REAL newspaper and something like the Washington Times. Not even in the same ballpark. Not to mention, those papers at least used to be profitable. The Washington Times has never been profitable.

REAL newspapers close down when they don't turn a profit unless they're part of a chain or family that keeps them going a little longer to see if they can reoragnize. The conservative papers founded specifically to promote a conservative viewpoint have never turned a profit and have always depended upon their wealthy owners to keep them alive and kicking. They have never been able to stand alone.

I hope not, we need checks and balances. It is why Bud and I have worked all these years parenting, we balance each other out. I would like an overhaul of the party system in America, but we do need more than one party.

But wouldn't it be nice to have another party other than the Democrats that can stand on the merit of its ideas without a propaganda arm dedicated to perpetuating lies and mistruths? Yes, it would be.

It would be nice to have all do that!

PARTY AT FROGGIES HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clink:

Since someone else has already pointed out that there are plenty of newspapers (cons, libs and even fair-minded ones) that are on the verge of collapse, I'll point out a different aspect of IB's post.

The difference between the conservatives who scream about the lefties and the liberals who scream about the righties is only worthy of laughter.

When the sum total of your message is slanting facts to try and damage the opposition it shows you have nothing to offer on your own. When you say things like "But wouldn't it be nice to have another party other than the Democrats that can stand on the merit of its ideas without a propaganda arm dedicated to perpetuating lies and mistruths?" it shows you are either ignoring the lies and propaganda coming from the dems or are blind.

it is becoming more and more clear why you want to debate in private, this is an embarrassing post....any honest person will admit that the dems also have their news outlets/propaganda that spread lies etc... to claim the dems innocent of this is the height of "head in sand" partisan hackery...

my fellow turbo-libs better not get to cocky.
Obama's economy dumped another 450,000 jobs in June.
He owns it now, and in a couple months republicans are going to figure out how to air comercial on how many millions of jobs were lost since the one came to town.

That jobs report was a bummer.

I agree; it has to turn around significantly in the next few months....

That's a point well taken Topper, but who in the Republican party has an credibility? McCain? Palin? Browback? Sanford? Jihndal? Huckabee? The only one I can think of that could lead a duck to water is Mitt Romney.

Point being, it don't matter how badly Obama does if Republicans look to Mike Huckabee for leadership.
