A question about Easther?

"Idiot" is a adjective , and an adjective modifies a noun. With that bit of knowledge, now tell me what your point is.

I have several black friends and business associates. Why?

I don't know if you're brain dead, dense, or both.

But you certainly are amusing in a bigoted drunk uncle kind of way.

The problem is that people seem to misunderstand the holiday to begin with. The five days in the middle were not "holy" like the first and last day. Trials, etc. would happen. Especially if the Sanhedrin believed that Jesus' presence would cause them to close the temple before day 7 (remember I listed how there were seven back then...) Take him quick, get him out of the way.

I just repeat what I have been told by Rabbis.

But the bible does. If we are going to discuss it honestly.

really?....given it was written to a patriarchal society and highlighted the role of women of all types within religion I expect I will just have to point out that you're full of shit....the exact opposite is true.....

shall we consider for example, Ruth, Esther, Mary, Lydia as four quick examples?......

at every stage of the history of humanity the Bible identifies women in roles of equal importance to that of men.....

Sarah, Rebekkah played as important a role as Abraham and Isaac......there were women judges, there were women as queens, there were women as prophets.......in the NT there were women that played key roles in the ministry of Jesus and women who were key figures in the early church.......if anything, the Bible was counter cultural in emphasizing the equality of women.......

When it is claimed to be improper or disgraceful for a woman to speak in church, I'd call that making them second class citizens.

Now I am not one for a literal interpretation of the Bible, so that particular passage has no real meaning for me. But to claim that it does not treat women as second class is bullshit.

"1 Corinthians 14:35-36
New International Version (NIV)

35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."

There were strong women figures in the Bible, but they were the exception, not the rule. Israel and Judah were very patriarchal societies and women were considered property for the most part and not as important as men in their societies. It is still the mindset of most Semetic tribes.

then you would make a great fundamentalist, as that's the same argument they use......personally I look at the Bible as a whole instead of trying to paint an illustration from one badly translated and contradictory verse......

which points out the obvious.....the Bible was promoting the exception to the rule rather than reinforcing it.......you pretend the Bible supported the existing patriarchal mindset instead of contradicting it......

a Bible that wanted women treated as second class citizens would never have had an Eve.....it would have had Adam (and his wife)....

fundamentalists like to quote Ephesians 5 that says women must submit to their husbands without mentioning that the verse comes AFTER the one which says husbands must submit to their wives....
