Proud Boys Member in Latest Wave of Arrests Over U.S. Capitol Riots

The FBI on Wednesday arrested a Florida-based member of the right-wing Proud Boys group on charges of storming the U.S. Capitol two weeks ago in a crowd of Donald Trump supporters challenging his election defeat, the Justice Department said.

Joseph Randall Biggs, 37, faces charges of corruptly obstructing an official proceeding before Congress, unlawful entry, and disorderly conduct in the attack on the seat of government while lawmakers were certifying Democrat Joe Biden's Nov. 3 election win.

Biggs was released on a $25,000 bond on Wednesday afternoon.

Trump did awesome, over years, but he is only one man. Those who supported Trump need to get it through their heads that the opposition is a Revolution that has been in planning for 50+ years, and that refuses to be honest about what they are doing, that is deeply abusive.

I am willing to listen to arguments but "Trump failed us" is almost certainly rooted in ignorance.

What was said on the PBS Newshour tonight was that the Proud Boys abandoned Trump because they held onto the belief that he would, at the last minute before the inauguration, do something extraordinary to disrupt the proceedings and secure his place as president for the next 4 years. Once that did not happen, the messages of disapproval began to flood social media. RW extremists have fled from him, washed their hands of him and the Republican Party.

There goes a big portion of the Republican voting base.

Now what happens to all those R lawmakers who staked their future on supporting Trump?

I always found it hard to believe anyone could be duped by the dim witted and self-serving Trump.

But about two dozen established conservative posters here were direct evidence to me that a lot of people are easily duped...for years on end.

Anyone who has been married for a long time and seen other married couples, some good marriages, some bad, learn the difference. Marriages take work, a cohesive coexistence which won't survive if both sides weren't equally pulling together albeit not always agreeing on life choices. That means mutual respect. If no respect, then might as well go to Divorce Court and make some money.

It's no different with government and I fail to see why so many people over 30, especially those over 50, can't see why the two situations are so much alike.

It was less than a month ago that I'd have strongly argued against that ever happening. Sure, Hillary was Michael Corleone to Trump's Fredo, but Fredo was still a Corleone. I felt he'd get away with it by hook or by crook.

Little did I realize just how supremely delusionally stupid this man was. Not just him, but a circle of assholes around him. Who the fuck thought is was a grand idea to call all of the fucking nutjobs together, ramp up their emotions with several speeches that they were cheated, the election stolen from them, blah, blah, blah then have the great Donald himself point them at Congress and turn them loose?

Sure, Trump is more fucked up than a football bat, but how did that idea ever fucking leave the Oval Office much less the White House? I think Trump and his advisors are going to face some criminal issues in the next year or so.

Trump is a one-man insane asylum. How his crazy idea of civil insurrection and taking the Presidency by force ever left the Oval Office only proves his circle of advisers are batshit crazy too.

The two points are not mutually exclusive. It's you who are not only mistaken, but also short sighted.

Part of the institution of the Presidency is to protect not only the nation but the President from himself. Now he's facing charges, potentially criminal charges for insurrection. If not him, then whoever was highest in the chain between key militia leaders and the Oval Office.
