A trial without witnesses is unconstitutional.

If the President is acquitted in a trial where witnesses were banned then Autocracy has begun.
There will be no going back.
Is that really what you fools want?
To win a battle but lose everything?

Well, I don't know whether an impeachment without documents or witnesses is unconstitutional, but I do know an impeachment without them is not a trial.

Having a judge up there and pretending it was one was nothing but a sham and a disgrace. Add it to the pile of disgraces.

The subject is impeached in the House and tried in the Senate. You tell me, you are the lawyer.

No, he pays them.

You don't get to speak for Trump. You only get to speak for you.

No, he pays them.

Specify.

I don't think you realize that Trump has donated his salary to charity.

Diplomats can stay where they like.

Lie. He is not required to.

Hello midcan5,

The autocracy has been with us for a long time. If you want some history see:

https://www.justplainpolitics.com/showthread.php?135147-SCOTUS-Injustice&p=3501445#post3501445

And the irony is the working class and poor vote for it and cheer it as Trump rallies demonstrate.

"On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." H. L. Mencken

Well, this 'moron' is pretty good at controlling the story. No matter what the story is, his version is always different, which then is taken up by the whole cult, and the actual story rejected.

How about this quote? Is this an uncanny description of Potus or what?

"The truth unquestionably is, that the only path to a subversion of the republican system of the Country is, by flattering the prejudices of the people, and exciting their jealousies and apprehensions, to throw affairs into confusion, and bring on civil commotion. Tired at length of anarchy, or want of government, they may take shelter in the arms of monarchy for repose and security."

[ Yeah, well, the problem, Alex, is that the person who is becoming king is the same man you describe below: ]

Those then, who resist a confirmation of public order, are the true Artificers of monarchy—not that this is the intention of the generality of them. Yet it would not be difficult to lay the finger upon some of their party who may justly be suspected. When a man unprincipled in private life desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper, possessed of considerable talents, having the advantage of military habits—despotic in his ordinary demeanour—known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty—when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity—to join in the cry of danger to liberty—to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion—to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day—It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may “ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.”"

That's the best description of what DT does with the media.

He was a wind-up rubber stamp 'judge.' That spectacle hurt the reputation of the SCOTUS.

STILL LYING, HUH?

THE STALIN-O-CRATS PRESENTED THE TESTIMONY OF SEVENTEEN WITNESSES AND COUNTLESS DOCUMENTS IN THE SENATE.

STOP THE FUCKING LIES.

There were witnesses. The Democrats claimed 17 of them. Also, witnesses are not required for a trial.

Inversion fallacy.

The media did it to themselves. Trump did nothing.
