Olbermann suspended for Dem contributions
CNN By: CNN Political Unit

(CNN) - Keith Olbermann, MSNBC's primetime firebrand host, has been suspended indefinitely for violating the ethics policies of his employer earlier this year when he donated to three Democrats seeking federal office, MSNBC announced Friday.

Of course hes a dishonest bastard like most lefties I know....it just takes some time to actually catch them.....

Ya'all have a wonderful day, you can bet I am....

WHAT ABOUT FREE SPEACH AND ALL THAT?

WHERE ARE THOSE WHO WERE ALL OVER NPR FOR ALLEGEDLY DOING THE SAME THING... THEY SHOULD BE ALL OVER MSNBC FOR THIS!

Bravo only believes in free speech for the Chamber of Commerce!

Were they expecting Olbermann to be some sort of non-partisan figure? Why would these rules apply to someone who runs an obviously biased opinion show?

OK, I had to go read the article on a news site and yep, it sounds like he's suspended.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20021940-503544.html

I really don't agree with the reasoning behind the suspension.

From the article:

""Anyone working for NBC News who takes part in civic or other outside activities may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist because they may create the appearance of a conflict of interest," it says. "Such activities may include participation in or contributions to political campaigns or groups that espouse controversial positions. You should report any such potential conflicts in advance to, and obtain prior approval of, the President of NBC News or his designee." "

There is no way anyone on the left or right watches Olbermann (or Matthews or Maddow) and sees him as an "impartial journalist" anyway. And thus, why should he have his camapign contributions "approved" by anyone. The world knows he isn't impartial...I do but I watch him anyway sometimes. I just don't like this decision and if it is following the "rule of law" for NBC then the rule needs to be changed, IMO.

Most (or all maybe) stations have this. I doubt they're going to make separate rules for those who are supposed to be 'neutral' or 'non-partisan' vs. those who have an opinion show.

Sad, but it does allow MSNBC to maintain their moral superiority over Faux News when it comes to being a bought and paid for arm of either political party.

Everyone who screamed about Rupert Murdoch and Faux giving the RNC a $1,000,000.00 donation earlier this year needs to shut it.

If MSNBC decides it's more important to maintain a wall of separation between the network and the political parties rather than be perceived as a bought and paid for propaganda arm of one party...so be it.

Is that sour look on your face from this, or just your lunch repeating itself?

I can't imagine how this makes even one iota of difference. Seriously, does anybody here think that the people at MSNBC aren't driven politically leftward?

What? Dude, you are way off. He wasn't suspended for donating to a political party, he was fired, like the lady who was fired from the Farm Bureau or whatever, for something taken out of context. What is up with you?

The difference between NPR and MSNBC is that NPR is paid for with public money, whereas MSNBC is a privately owned network. Not saying I necessarily agree with their decision, I actually agree with Watermark, but they're a private network and can set their own rules.

True, but they represent freedom of speech and then try to restrict their employees rights!
I have a hard time with that!

Journalism represents freedom of the press, not necessarily freedom of speech. The network is also a business and represents the interests of its shareholders.

Don't you all see how hilarious this is ?

Your talking about Keith (the Pinhead) Olbermann and refering to the phrase
jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist

Thats the funniest thing I ever heard of.....
:lol::yurt::lol::yurt::lol:

Come on now. If I said Fox News didn't lean right because it has Juan Williams you would rightfully laugh at me.

You'd need to ask Damo.

He's the one making the claim that everyone at MSNBC leans politically left.

I merely pointed out that I didn't think the ENTIRE network leaned left.
