Accidental Racist?

I disagree; it won't have an effect on LL's career, and certainly nothing as dramatic as Toure suggests.

I don't get the hullabaloo on this one. To me, it's just pc running rampant again.

“If you don’t judge my gold chains, I’ll forget the iron chain.”

I don't think that line is about being PC. He is saying if you accept him wearing gold chains and don't judge him for it, he will forget that his ancestors were in the iron chains and not judge white people for that.

and in the case of the towers, that path was straight down.

that said, lets not derail this particular thread with this... we can always start a new one.

:0) Laughably stupid and COMPLETELY devoid of any knowledge of science.

But you're right .. don't want to have too much fun in a thread about an idiot song.

Not interested in a thread about 9/11.

Or, it could just be a clumsy call for a truce - like his character in the song saying that it's time not to blame the guy he's talking to for things his ancestors did. He's not saying he's going to forget that - just not hold the other guy accountable for it.

I have never read Toure before and I don't know who he is, but I went to the link and he definitely did a good job on this.

Toure' also defends MSNBC and their all-white prime time lineup .. saying they are exceptional people.

Touré: MSNBC's All-White Primetime Lineup OK Because Hosts 'Brilliant,' 'Extraordinary'
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/11/toure-msnbcs-all-white-pr_n_3062599.html

I wonder if he also defends the whiteness of Fox News?

Just a paid clown.

Well, I question his definition of brilliant anyway. Not a fan of Lawrence O to say the least. (I can't stand him, he is a rage monster) And actually I am not a Rachel fan though that is a very incendiary thing to say in liberal circles. I have been viciously attacked for saying that. It's pretty effed up. You can't say that you don't like Rachel Maddow. You simply cannot say it.

I stopped watching MSNBC several years ago so never even noticed this.

He's 46.

There ain't much long-term left in his career.

SUperfreak you forget that he is a rapper and celebrity and age is different. You are a financial dude and really you guys age in reverse-dog years, so you are a mere babe in the woods when it comes to fucking people. You guys only just get going when you hit 50.

I don't do MSNBC either .. and I'm most certainly not a fan of Maddow.

It's Fox News for democrats.

If you want to view liberals from a different perspective, you go to the Huffpo and say you don't like Rachel Maddow. It's hilarious. I do it sometimes just to stir them up. Sometimes I'll do it on a rape story where a high-profile white lefty male is accused of rape, and all the "liberal" men are defending him and mansplaining why the bitch is lying. I will drop the you know there is something about that Rachel Maddow I just don't like...just to get them foaming. Mostly I avoid the huffpo these days though.

I do think that might have been his intention. Clumsy would be a charitable way to describe it.

but he does have his TV/acting career to be concerned with.

Correct again .. but there is this thing called 'history.'

There ain't much long-term left in his TV/acting career either.

I applaud him for what he has accomplished .. but he knows that history as well as I do.

Will Smith is a different story.

What is it about her that makes her so untouchable to some? (She's about my age and grew up two cities over from me. I've always wonder if we had any mutual friends.)
