Dylan wrote it, but he can't sing, he can play and he can write, but he should let his song be done by others.

I don't care for Garth much.

Pagano!

I've heard the same non-sense said about Neil Young. There are some songs that a song writer/perform just owns. Like a Rolling Stone sounds lame by anyone but Dillion, Same with Cinnamon Girl by Young or I've got Friends in Low Places by Garth.

Funny you should say that. Two of his songs, Mr. Tambourine Man and All Along the Watch Tower, were much bigger hits when they were covered than we he made his own version.

I prefer Dylan version of Tambourine Man, personally.

However, Dylan's version All Along the Watch Tower was very mediocre Dylan, and Hendrix completely transformed it. His version is one of the greatest songs of all time. It's kind of amazing how he was able to do that.

What really makes Dylan's songs so great is there simplicity. Pretty much anyone can learn to sing them and some can do them really well....but some of his songs....he just owns them. Now don't get me wrong, no one will ever mistake Dylan for an Aretha Franlin but she's never been the song writer he is.

But Dylan really rocks as a performer. Did you ever see the 1998 (or was it 1999) Grammies? A mosh pit dancer ran out on stage during the middle of his peformance and Dylan didn't miss a beat or blink an eye, he kept right on performing as if the dude was part of the show. It was great!
