After betraying NATO and Ukraine, Trump launches trade war

In comparison to Ukraine we barely sent anything into Afghanistan when USSR invaded.
It started much cheaper... And ended much more expensively. If Russia had done as good of a job invading Ukraine as the USSR did invading Afghanistan, Ukraine would also start out cheaper. Guerrilla warfare is just cheaper. I doubt Ukraine will ever get as expensive as Afghanistan, but the next war in Europe might be.

We did that one on the cheap.
Once again, they did it on the cheap. We did not fight the war in Afghanistan against the USSR. They had to do it on the cheap, because it was guerrilla warfare.

As it turns out, we probably should have taken care of more of the humanitarian aid. We left that to the Saudis, and ended up with a generation of children who have fought wars against us. It is one of the great examples of what can go wrong if we skimp on USAID.

Actually invading costs more, but that isn't part of this conversation.
Being invaded costs more, at least in terms of percent of what you have. Americans like trump were not touched by the Vietnam War, but had he been in Vietnam, it would be another story.

Not being involved in the war at all, costs the least.
