There were so many legit reasons to go after trump, this particular case was not that, it was a coup attempt to discredit the duly elected potus at the time.

I like Bernie but he's on the extreme edge of American politics as a Democratic Socialist (or Socialist Democrat. I always forget). His ideas are in line with the Euros, not mainstream Americans.

Worse for him, since Hillary is gone, he's become the lightning rod for RWNJ wrath. AOC too but she's such a minor player it's funny the RWNJs hate her so much. Maybe it's just the asshole New Yorkers (a redundancy) who hate her and infect others with their hate. I don't know. Either way, Bernie is too old to be President and probably too old to be a Senator. That's his state's decision, not mine.

As it is, IMO, the problem is that both parties have moved so far apart in polarity that it will take time for them to move back together. Not just the leadership but the constituents...especially the very loud, very mobilized minority of constituents. Notice that Republicans were more afraid of their voters than Trump so they continued to support Trump with lip-service. Very few actually disagreed with Trump's bullshit for the past year.
