Oh, we aren't useless, we just need to grow up, we are adolescents, all of Europe had to go through the same thing, as does any society.

It is my greatest hope, we will survive this period, and come out better for it.

You will survive, of that there is no doubt. BUT

as long as your politicians and leaders continue to bang your tin drum and brag of the holiness of the US then the rest of the world will put you down.
The 'Ugly American' still exists, indeed he appears to be more common and more influential.
Big hats covering little brains and John Wayne wannabees just dont cut it.
There are many Americans to whom this sort of thing is as much an anathema as it is to us and it saddens us to see the childish stupidity of the right wing extremists fighting to unseat your president, not because they, to a man, disagree with his policies but because he is smart. The rednecks and hillbillys cannot accept anyone smarter than they even though RW yanks were not even in the queue for 'smarts'!
