Also, I have seen minorities treated fairly for much of my life. There was a time that this was not the case. But those times have pretty much gone.

Ya know...I distinctly remember Dixie saying a while back that he lived in Chicago or something like that because I remember seeing the comment and thinking..."Why does he have the name Dixie if he doesn't live in the south?"

Never said any such thing. I haven't been to Chicago but once in my life, when I was 12. I have no idea where you cats are getting this, I have not posted that I live anywhere other than where I have lived. Since graduating high school in 1977, I have lived in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. I worked in Iraq as a contractor for several months, and didn't post here. Since 2000, I have lived in the state of Alabama. But now, I can understand your cause for concern, a lot of people would love to claim they live in Alabama! You guys have to remain on your toes to keep people from falsely claiming they are living in such a wonderful place, I understand that!

False claim by you, and nothing whatsoever to back it up. Your linked source, refutes your claim, the opposition clearly states this is not the case. The opposition, by the way, is Secular Alabama, a group of Seculars, Atheists, Agnostics and Humanists. These are YOUR kind of people, Stringy! THEY say this amendment was opposed because of language regarding constitutionalism of education, not segregation. They don't mention reinstating segregation, Federal courts, or packing them, and nothing about States Rights. So when are we getting this damning information to support your false claim, Stringy? The link you've provided contradicts you, and supports ME!

No spin, you provided all links in this thread. I've merely asked you to support your arguments, and you haven't. Meanwhile, the one link you did post, confirms what I said from the start. I am not a "queer" and I am offended you chose to use that word and homosexuality in general, to lash out at me in frustration, and I think it illustrates a level of your personal character the rest of the board needed to see, Stringy. No one is confused, casual readers are free to go back and read the previous posts. This is a relatively short thread, it's not that long of a read. You have made a series of offensive and derogatory claims, and haven't backed a thing up. I have used the very links you posted yourself, and the words of Seculars to prove my argument true. The primary opposition was the constitutional issue regarding public education, not segregationist language. That is exactly what I stated, and I told you why constitutionality of education at the state level was important as well. It's about school taxes.

Now Stringmeister... I can't sit here and tell you that what I said was the reason 100% of the people who rejected it did so. I don't have any way of going inside the heads of every voter and determining why they opposed this amendment. It's intellectually dishonest to try and hold your opponent to such a standard, and you are old enough to know that. I myself opposed this amendment, and I gave my reason, which had absolutely nothing to do with Secular Alabama's reason. I vote NO on ALL state amendments. It's that simple. I want a new state constitution, and my vote is a protest vote. When we finally get the politicians in Montgomery to let us have a Constitutional Convention, I promise you, I will make certain that we have NO segregation-era language in it.

Alabama voted in favor of keeping the segregation era language. That's a fact. There are probably numerous reasons why. You opposed it because you are a racist. It certainly was not for the reasons Secular Alabama opposed it.

It's hard to tell what all your lies are, but they are numerous. You obviously are not part of any movement to reform the consitution in Alabama. You are completely ignorant of the subject and confused this amendment with being one from 8 years ago. Further, I really find it hard to believe that you could live there and be unaware that the GOP controls the legislature. I mean, you are supposedly a well informed Republican that scoops Rush Limbaugh and you don't know your party dominates the state legislature?

It's a fact that Alabama again rejected an amendment to the constitution. It's also a fact that I am NOT a racist, and that you have offered (yet again) an opinion you can't support with evidence. We agree, my reason for opposition was different than Secular Alabama, who was the main opposition force, and neither of our stated reasons had a thing to do with wanting to keep segregation.

You can keep crowing about an error I made and then quickly corrected, but I am well aware the Alabama legislature went to Republican control for the first time since Reconstruction. I've also accurately stated the differences between the amendment in 2004 and 2012, where the "opposition" completely switched sides over the issue of 'constitutionality of education' and not segregation. You've conveniently posted a link to confirm my argument, and you've liberally given your opinions on things, but what you've NOT done, is back anything with evidence or fact. In spite of my total domination in this thread, you insist on continuing to try and claim victory, as if no one can read the thread, and will just stumble upon your latest crowing and presume you've validated your claims. The more I have pointed this out, the more you've doubled down, making even more wild accusations you haven't supported, and claiming victory you've not realized.

The reason I continue to challenge you to put up or shut up, is because I know you can't put up and won't shut up! It's your opinion that you are not a racist because you have not lynched anyone or at least you don't admit to having done so. But we all know that you are a liar and it is clear your opinions are often based on race and xenophobia.

Secular Alabama opposed it. There is nothing to support that they were the MAIN opposition or very influential and you have not provided any proof that they were. Their stated reasons were because they wanted to remove the entirety of the original segregation language. That has already been established and supported with quotes and full text of the amendment.

You did not quickly correct your error on the Alabama legislature. You realized you had made an error in confusing this amendment for the 2004 one, that the racist reason for opposition dictated by Roy Moore was no longer valid and quickly found a new racist reason to oppose it. You then claimed you were a proud member of a group seeking to rewrite the state constitution. To me it seems pretty certain to be a load of bullshit as I would think any political activist would no the composition of their state legislature when dominated by one party.
