All this and vacations too....wow

"You might want to contact our Sec. of State, and other Dems. that voted for the war and could answer better than I..."

I still have to shake my head in appreciation every time I read this kind of sentiment from the bravs.

If I had bet him a million 7 years ago that he'd be saying that, he would have laughed. He'd have still been in his "Dems are on the wrong side of history" mode....
That was in answer to a specific question by Mott, nothing more , nothing less...don't give it any more weight than it should get....
Don't read into it any more than that.

How can anyone who is serious about reducing spending & the deficit not talk about the need to slash defense?

It's incomprehensible to me. Our defense budget is bloated & out-dated.
The best and newest of military gadgets cost the most....all those union workers that research, design, build and test the stuff make big bucks....
Isn't that exactly the way you demanded it should be ?
Planes and missiles don't fly on grape juice and 50 cal. bullets don't grow on trees....

I never thought I'd be paying 30-35 thousand dollars for a mediocre auto either....but then I remembered the UAW

What a ridiculous oversimplification.

And I never "demanded" anything regarding this whole topic, aside from the fact that we need to slash defense spending dramatically.

Well, excuse me....I thought you were one of those that thinks in the vein of "workers unite" and demand a "fair wage" and healthcare and pensions and safety and tax breaks for tools and work boots, etc....

Sorry if I got that wrong.

and yes, it is oversimplification, but I ain't gonna write you a freakin' essay to explain something you should already realize but obviously don't.

So, you'd rather lie, misrepresent & oversimplify.

Okay; just so we understand where you're coming from.

You're one of those pinheads that thinks...like...a pill that costs 10cents for manufacture should be sold at maybe 12 cents and just ignore the hundreds of million of dollars that it took to research and develop that medicine....the hundred of thousands of man hours spent in the labs and on the testing....I've met people like you before....

If thats all ya got....format C: to entertain yourself

You love those assumptions.

Actually, I'm a big fan of capitalism & health profit margins.

Which has very little to do with the fact that anyone who values spending reduction should be in favor of deep cuts in the defense budget.

You're not really arguing anything right now. Just so you know.

I fully support our military and giving them all the money they need to defend our nation. They do receive billions of dollars in government support however and I don't believe there is any multi-billion dollar organization that doesn't have waste, over-lapping duties or inefficiencies and I don't believe the Pentagon to be an exception. I'm not smart enough nor know enough details to be able to say we can cut or save in this area or that area. But I do support doing a serious audit on the Pentagon/Defense Department and making sure that the money they are receiving is going to its best possible use and if its not then taking it away.

That is more than reasonable....
Then we can audit Medicare/Medicaid
Congressional pensions and pay for actual work done
Federal employee saleries compared to private industry
etc....and list is endless.....

Anywhere tax money spent.....:good4u:

And if it was done with any honesty and integrety, this nation could get by on a 60% reduction of its budget.:cof1:

I am in no way trying to single out only defense spending. But if we are serious about reducing government spending we have to look at areas where we spend the most and that's SS, Medicare and the military. Most politicians don't want to touch those areas thus I don't think we will see any meaningful reduction in spending anytime soon.
