For those of you who don't know. Allen Turing is considered the father of modern computing. He is one of the greatest scientist/mathematicians in English history. His legacy is equal to that of Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin as one of the most brilliant scientist England has ever produced.

Turing played in instrumental role in decoding the famous German Enigma coding machine which arguably ended WWII several years sooner.

In one of the most shameful periods of English history Turning was prosecuted and convicted of being homosexual. He was given an alternative of life in prison or chemical castration. He ended up by committing suicide by, as legend has it, eating an apple he injected with cyanide.

Steven Jobs and Steve Wosniak forever immortalized Allen Turing by naming their fledgling company "Apple" in Turing's honor. Note that the apple has a bite taken out of it. That is to honor a brilliant genius who was unfairly persecuted for his sexuality.

Though long over due it is outstanding that Queen Elizabeth has given a posthumous royal pardon for Turing. My hats off to the ole gal!

In 1966, John Money became the first American to employ chemical castration by prescribing medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA, the base ingredient now used in Depo Provera) as a treatment for a patient dealing with pedophilic urges.


The drug has thereafter become a mainstay of chemical castration in America.


In 1981, in an experiment by P. Gagne, 48 males with long standing histories of sexually deviant behavior were given medroxyprogesterone acetate for as long as 12 months.


Forty of those subjects were recorded as to have diminished desires for deviant sexual behavior, less frequent sexual fantasies, and greater control over sexual urges.


The research recorded a continuation of this more positive behavior after the administration of the drug had ended with no evidence of adverse side effects and recommended medroxyprogesterone acetate along with counseling as a successful method of treatment for serial sex offenders.

None of those are by law, nor because somebody was "convicted" of being homosexual. This was public policy, there is a difference. A guy goes to a shrink because he has pedophilic urges and gets help, voluntarily taking chemicals to defeat the urges... one guy helps save the world then is convicted of "homosexuality" and is forced to take chemicals leading to a purported suicide (may not be supported by evidence).

Have we, in the US, ever involuntarily chemically castrated people for a conviction of "homosexuality"?

Turing was a deviant, convicted in a court of law, and chose chemical castration to avoid prison.



California was the first U.S. state to specify the use of chemical castration as a punishment for child molestation, following the passage of a modification to Section 645 of the California penal code in 1996.


This law stipulates that anyone convicted of child molestation with a minor under 13 years of age may be treated with Depo Provera if they are on parole after their second offense and that offenders may not reject the treatment.


The passage of this law led such similar laws in other states as Florida's Statute Section 794.0235 which was passed into law in 1997.


As in California, treatment is mandatory after a second offense.


At least seven other states, including Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Oregon, Texas and Wisconsin, have experimented with chemical castration.


In Iowa, as in California and Florida, offenders may be sentenced to chemical castration in all cases involving serious sex offenses.

Louisiana that the execution of child rapists where the victim was not killed was ruled unconstitutional, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal signed Senate Bill 144, allowing Louisiana judges to sentence convicted rapists to chemical castration.

The drug cyproterone acetate has been commonly used for chemical castration throughout Europe. It resembles the drug MPA used in America.

In the 1960s, German physicians used antiandrogens as a treatment for sexual paraphilia.

On June 5, 2012, Estonia passed a law to allow forced chemical castration of sex offenders.

In October and November 2013, the Macedonian authorities were working on developing a legal framework and standard procedure for implementation of chemical castration that would be used for convicted child molesters.

The castration is intended to be voluntarily, whereas for child molesters that repeat the criminal act it should be mandatory.

Except in cases where same-sex molestation occurred. The actual statutory crime was not being homosexual, but being a pedophile.

Which is more "barbaric"...injecting convicted pedophiles with MPA, or sodomizing children?

Yes, around 100 gay men were chemically castrated. Many were also imprisoned for life. Around an estimated 50,000 gay men were prosecuted for being gay. They should all be pardoned.

As long as you don't consider life long impotency an adverse side affect. Personally I think it crosses the line of cruel and unusual punishment and is thus unconstitutional.

Your story about Turings' suicide turned out to be less than credible. What evidence do you have to support these new assertions of yours?

If this were equal I may play that game. Raping children is not what Turing was convicted of, and you know that. This isn't even semantics. The man was convicted of homosexuality and forced to take chemical castration as an alternative to prison. That's barbaric. You cannot find a single case where that happened in the US, because we didn't do that to people for being gay.

The attempt to equate the two (homosexuality and pedophilia) is disgusting.

Note for Turing fans:

The UK age of majority was 21 until 1971.

In January 1952, Turing started a relationship with Arnold Murray, a 19-year-old.

Turing met Murray just before Christmas outside the Regal Cinema when walking down Manchesters' Oxford Road and invited him to lunch.

On 23 January Turings' house was burgled.

Murray told Turing that the burglar was an acquaintance of his, and Turing reported the crime to the police.

During the investigation he acknowledged a sexual relationship with Murray.
