A Democratic lawmaker says Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) “deliberately” offended members of the Congressional Black Caucus by having chicken and biscuits from Chick-fil-A catered to their weekly meeting, the Huffington Post reports.

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) said West even went a step further and walked out of the meeting even though it was his turn to provide the group with a formal lunch. He told the Huffington Post that the incident took place roughly 6 months ago but he apparently feels they are relevant given the recent controversy surrounding restaurant President Dan Cathy’s decision to publicly back traditional marriage.

So.... 6 MONTHS AGO, it was West's turn to cater lunch for the Black Caucus, and he chose Chic-Fil-a. There was no story or controversy for 6 months, but suddenly, the Chick-Fil-a controversy arises, and now all of a sudden, they decided they are upset with him about this!

They liked 'em too, according to the story, there were no leftovers. No one defiantly refused to eat Chick-fil-a on principle, and no one walked out in protest.
 
West responds.....

Responding to Hastings comments, West said today he did not recall any controversy over the meal in question, adding that there was nothing left of the food when the meeting was over. He questioned Hastings’ motives, calling it a case of “political elitism.”


West had not read the article -- partly, he said, because it was in the Huffington Post, a publication he has publically ridiculed in the past. He made it clear that he was not trying to send any kind of message to the caucus, as Hastings suggested.


“It is the American taxpayers’ dollars being used,” West said. “I don’t feel like it’s my responsibility to go out and get steak and lobster tails for the members of the Congressional Black Caucus.”

Isn't Alcee Hastings an impeached judge? Who gives a flying fuck what he thinks. Allen West rocks. Would rathe have him as nominee than Romney

Yep, and I fear what we may discover this election is, that's the kind of firebrand conservative we need to carry our message. Every time I hear Romney speak, it sounds like he is trying to explain himself, or apologetically make his points. I'm tired of walking on eggshells with these people, it's time to take the gloves off and pop them in the kisser with their own style of politics. West has no problem calling them outright Socialists, and neither should we... neither should Romney.

His 15 minutes are up .. and he RAN from his old district .. trying to run from his fate.

I've never figured out why they let this bozo into the CBC in the first place.

I'm real sure there is nothing you can tell me about the CBC that has any significance to me.

The CBC is a liberal organization. Even JC Watts knew that. West adds nothing and is scorned and rejected by the membership.

Of course he could go off and start his own conservative congressional organization .. and be its only member. :0)
