Amazon workers pee into bottles out of fear of being punished for taking bathroom bre

Hello archives,

A good observation.

Russia is trying to help Trump gain approval in order to maintain the chaos and polarization in the USA for as long as possible.

But this may actually have the opposite effect. If it leads to better working conditions for Amazon workers, that makes America greater. It is ridiculous that Bezos is so rich and his workers are afraid to drink water on the job so they won't have to go pee. I believe they are under unreasonable pressure to increase productivity levels. I recall a story a while back about USA Amazon stationing ambulances outside one of their warehouses in the summer because it got to be 110 degrees in there and people could not keep up the pace, but tried anyway until some of them dropped from heat exhaustion and had to be carted off. They also had more people on call to replace the ones who dropped.

At some point we have to say that capitalism's push for more profits goes too far. How rich does one guy have to be before he has 'enough?' What is the point of that, really? After one has way more money than they would ever need to have everything they could ever want to buy in one lifetime why do they need more money?

At some point you have to figure that if all this money doesn't make the guy happy nothing will.

Bezos: Chill OUT, dude! Why not kick back and enjoy life? What the heck would it hurt ya to give your workers a better deal? So what if you raked in cash at a slower pace? It's not the end of the world. You could be very popular by easing up, and still make good money.

I am wondering if it might be a good idea to have every corporation revert to an employee-owned plan upon the death of it's originator.

How does it help us to let the rich buy and sell companies?

Usually, whenever that happens people get laid off.

Why all the animosity against "rich" people? People are rich because they're smart and work hard. They buy and sell companies because of their business prowess and expertise. That's how they became rich. And I don't know about you but I don't want the government to decide who gets to keep what. Our government is $20 trillion in debt so they're obviously not very adept at managing money or managing complex business concepts.
But back to the rich. You act as if they somehow came across their wealth illegally. They worked hard for it. They went to school and got advanced degrees and worked their butts off. Our capitalist system, the best in the world, allows them to be as successful as they want to be. In fact, it allows ALL AMERICANS to be as successful as they want to be. You, Poll Taker, could be as wealthy as one of these CEOs you vilify if you really wanted to. Why do you disparage the wealthy for being successful? Successful entrepreneurs are the backbone of our capitalist free market system and capitalism is what makes America great.

Hello cawacko,

How do you take a company worth hundreds of billions and just give it to the employees?

I don't know, exactly. It's just a passing thought. But it is one I have had more than once. Maybe you allow a certain percentage of the ownership to be retained by the heirs, and the rest is divided up among the non-executive workers. Ya gotta figure the execs already own quite a bit of stock anyway, right? A new BOD would have to be created. Why? Don't you think it is possible?

Why should corporations exist far longer than humans?

Humans created corporations for their own use. If corporations become so powerful that no human can control it, what is to stop corporations from taking over the world? I think humans are generally better off with power resting in representative governments than for-profit corporations. Already we have corporations more powerful than small countries. What is to stop a corporation from acquiring nations? Should that be allowed? What is the logical implication of growing corporate power?

You know, corporations have already carved themselves out of having to go to court to handle a customer dispute. Most large corporations have little seen 'user agreements' that essentially say that by purchasing their product or service, that you wave your right to sue them. Cute, eh? And that's not all. Now they have these international trade agreements such as the TPP that actually make up rules they expect nations to abide by. And if those rules are broken they expect those nations to pay fines to corporations for the 'violations.' That is ridiculous. Corporations are getting far too powerful. We never elected them. I don't want my elected officials agreeing to anything a big powerful international mega-corporation demands. It is we who should be telling corporations what to do.

Public Corporations are owned by their investors. Bezos owns 16%. If he were to leave or die you don't break up Amazon and steal the company from its owners. That's some Stalin, Castro and Chavez type action there. America as we know it will cease to exist if your wishes come true

Got any proof or is this just one of your wild theories because I'm not going to believe it's true just because you typed it on an internet forum. Do you know any billionaires that are sociopaths. Care to name just one?
Scepticism will take you further than gullibility.

More and more of America as we know it ceases to exist every day. Why don't you address some of my other points?

What is to stop corporations from taking over the world, marginalizing governments?

It is well known that business leaders, and indeed leaders in general, can share many of the traits of psychopaths.

Yes I would say that Trump is a sociopath, as are Bill and Hillary Clinton.

But not President Barack Obama? You must be a freaking far left liberal. I hereby label you a far left liberal. From this day on you will be considered a far left liberal.

What corporation is taking over the world?

Capital markets would cease to exist if your idea came to fruition.

Whose post are you responding to?

Did I *say* a corporation was taking over the world?

No. I asked what mechanism prevents corporations (plural) from taking over the world?

Their power grows over time. They have no natural life and death cycle like humans. We have started corporations which could still be in existence thousands of years from now, accruing more and more power the whole time. I ask again. What is to prevent corporations from acquiring more power than governments, thus gaining enough power to tell countries what to do? (That has already begun to some extent.)

Has anyone considered the long-term implications of corporate power growth?

So essentially your premise for taking companies away from shareholders is a corporation may take over the government one day?

If corporations were taken away from the owners, as you propose upon the founders death, then capital markets would cease to exist. Capitalism would cease to exist.

I still don't get your animosity towards large corporations. Has there ever been a case where a large corporation tried to take over the world? I don't think so. Also, the large majority of corporations are publicly owned and sell stock to shareholders. If a corporation did something egregious, the shareholders would take action and either sell their stock or call for action. I have more faith and confidence in corporations to do the right thing than I do in governments. Governments can control and influence elections. Corporations can do nothing to prevent stockholders from bailing on their stock. And stockholders don't have to wait until 'Election Day' to make their voices heard. There's an election every day the Stock Market is open and corporations can get feedback instantly from their actions, good or bad.
That's another thing that makes Capitalism great.

Please show evidence that "this has already begun to happen to some extent". because I don't see it.
