America Is Losing Religious Faith

6th grade didn’t take. Go back and try again.

Or, better yet, have a literate 6th grader explain to you what the theory of evolution really is.

So sorry you can't keep up. Says a lot about you, doesn't it?

I couldn't care less what your evolution shit says. Of course, you probably did evolve from an orangutan.

One can certainly have a belief in a higher power. No problem there. But, when that belief causes you to suspend reality, that’s where you have a problem. With yourself and with others that know better.

A belief in a god, for example, does not negate the evolutionary process. What DOES negate the evolutionary process is the belief that some have that their god created man (and all animals) as he is right now. And we know that’s horseshit.

So it's ok, yet you say it suspends reality? You make no sense.

Your posts do seem to have the intelligence of an ape. I think you are full of horseshit. How about that?

LOL

Every sentence of yours, every word, reveals your ignorance.

BTW, idiot, an orangutan is one of the ape family. Just like humans. So, no, fucking moron, we didn’t evolve FROM an orangutan.

Tell us about that virgin birth. Or walking on water. Maybe about a guy getting swallowed by a big fish.

Myths. Only believed by someone with a child’s intellect.
You mention Bible stories...How is it that you are familiar with them? Did you grow up hearing them?

Yeah, ok domer. specifically, what sentence, word "reveals" my ignorance? Ignorance of what? Show why you are not ignorant and I am. Show me this proof you aren't ignorant and I am.

Yes, potato head, you are part of the ape family. I am not, you pathetic cunt.

“Evolved from an orangutan”.

Or did you miss that part of my post?

You can deny that humans are just one of the ape family, like chimps, gorillas, ORANGUTANS, but you’d merely be demonstrating your massive ignorance, just as you continually do.

Really? You actually have to ask that kind of question?
I asked, didn't I? i understand it you don't want to answer...it's very personal... but if you want to share, I'm always interested in hearing the reasons people abandon the faith and beliefs they were raised with...

I wasn’t raised in any particular faith, but it’s absurd to ask the question when we were bombarded with Baby Jesus stories at Christmas and resurrection stories at Easter.

I learned the Lord’s Prayer at a very early age, but guess what? It wasn’t at home or in any church. That’s what they did in grade school in the early 60s.

I stopped believing, or at least questioning the miracles of the Bible at an early age, knowing they defied logic. And science.

BTW, rainbows are a scientific phenomenon, not a promise from God.

In my case, all I had to do is wake up in the morning, TOP.

There's no possible way that I could observe having awoken into a universe

that's the creation of an-- at the same time--

omnipotent and all-loving deity.

Believers can't see it, I understand,

but to me, I would have to be completely batshit crazy

to arrive at that conclusion.

Fortunately, I was born into a family of wedding and funeral Catholics--

the traditions were more a part of our ethnicity than any faith---

so I never had to go through the trauma of giving up my faith

if such things are actually considered traumatic.

Thanks for taking the time to reply...I don't remember being "bombarded"...even at church...definitely not at school... and I was in school in the 60s... But, that is your right to stop believing...I'm glad I didn't...but I do respect your beliefs...I don't mock them....
Rainbows are both a scientific phenomenon and a promise from God...
I guess I shouldn't ask if you believe in the Rainbow bridge, then...I'm glad I do...

i grew up in a mostly Catholic neighborhood, so I understand...although I always believed that the pride in ethnicity and strength of faith was one big package...Very serious business...
I only think it's traumatic if someone mocks you for your faith...and traditions...but then you grow up...and go on with your life...no negative effects...because, after all you have support from family, friends and the like....

I have yet to see your proof that I am ignorant and you are not.

There really isn’t an actual rainbow bridge. Sorry to break it to you.

I don’t mock the ancients. They needed explanations to things they didn’t quite understand. Like rainbows. Or arks built by one guy for all the animals. There is no such excuse these days, except pure and willful ignorance.

I'm sorry you feel that way but there most certainly is...;) We'll just have to agree to disagree..... it's a blessing not to be you...;)
