That simply proves that gun control doesn't work. The only effective way to curb gun violence is to go after the punks responsible for it. The death penalty would work if it was applied on a consistent basis. Even if didn't work as a deterrent, I've never seen a corpse pick up a gun and shoot someone. We should have automatic life without parole for any crime committed with a gun. If there is a fatality, it should be an automatic death sentence. No exceptions. The only way to keep criminals in check is to make them fear the consequences of their criminal acts. That's just plain common sense.

The mentally depraved often don't fear death in their acts. School shooters have often committed suicide. The only real gun control needed, is mental checks, and getting the type of weapons built for war style assaults, back in the war zone.

Actually, I should make a slight correction. That number is for children born out of wedlock. Either way, it's a huge problem, and the major reason they join gangs.

That doesn't change much. You seriously don't get the concept of a shady Indianan purchasing legal arms, and selling them off on the streets. It's what happens with gangs, etc. Most arms in the hands of gangs aren't purchased from a dealer, it's normally sold from shady after market dealers, or stolen.

Hand guns, shotguns, the typical hunting rifle, etc. Hand guns, and revolvers, were mainly designed for law, and protection, especially in the old west. Shotguns, and most basic rifles were made for hunting. The whole gun culture stuff, is because your gun was part of your livelihood, and your protection. Some people still rely on them for food, and even pelts for various uses.

I think a lot of the problems are because Americans lick on their guns and touch them in ways that make the guns feel uncomfortable. It's causing the guns to act out irresponsibly. It's wrong to blame Americans for crimes of which the guns are guilty.
