A 34-year-old Savannah musician, was found mortally wounded on a street in a southside subdivision Sunday morning, a Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
Brazell, of a Glynwood Drive address, was discovered at the intersection of Seminole and Atwood streets, off Montgomery Crossroad, before 7 a.m. Sunday, and was taken to Memorial University Medical center where he died, said Julian Miller.
His death came as a shock to fellow members of The Goliards, a well-known Savannah ensemble that performs medieval music on period instruments.
“That’s terrible,” said John Hillenbrand, the founder of The Goliards.
Brazell played and performed vocals with The Goliards, said Hillenbrand. “I recruited him for the group. He could play just about anything,” Hillenbrand said of Brazell.
Anne Acker, another member of The Goliards, said Brazell had been with the group for about a year and was a “sweet, quiet, wonderful guy.”
Brazell’s slaying was the 23rd homicide reported to Savannah-Chatham police this year, two more than the 2010 total.
