NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Americans have the warmest feelings about former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Republican Sen. John McCain and Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, according to a poll released Monday that scores the popularity of national leaders.

The Quinnipiac University's "thermometer reading," taken the week after the Nov. 7 election, asked voters to rate their feelings for 20 leaders on a scale of 0 to 100.

Giuliani, a Republican weighing a presidential bid in 2008, scored the highest at 64.2. Obama and McCain, who are also considering a 2008 campaign, finished next at 58.8 and 57.7.

President Bush was 15th out of 20 while his secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, was fourth and former President Clinton fifth.

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton scored ninth of the 20 leaders with a score of 49. Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee who was roundly criticized before the election for suggesting that students who don't study could end up stuck in Iraq, came in last at 39.6.

Kerry later apologized for what he said was a botched joke.

Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who lost the Democratic primary before winning re-election as an independent, ranked sixth with a score of 52.7.

Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi, in line to become the next House Speaker, improved her standing, moving from last to 12th in a few weeks. The next Senate Majority leader, Democrat Harry Reid, was 19th.

"As we enter the presidential campaign of 2008, Giuliani and McCain are in enviable positions," said Peter Brown, assistant poll director. "They are well-regarded and most Americans are quite familiar with them. Obama's showing is impressive, but four in 10 Americans still don't know enough about him to have an opinion."

The telephone poll was conducted from Nov. 13-19. Quinnipiac surveyed 1,623 registered voters nationwide and the poll has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.

Rudy will never be president.

McCain's chances are gome due to his embrace of Bush.

Obama if he ran would kick ass!
Every black person in America would vote.
The Rs would not have any real dirt on him so they would have to make stuff up like they did with Kerry.
It could really backfire on them, they dont have the same control over the media they did back then.

Actually... Rudy is more of a Bush embracer than Mccain. For me personally...Rudy is too involved in the Bush circle ... and Mccain is too damn old. Im still studying Obama ... flip flopping if you will .....

Yeah how is it Care?

hi desh!

we are in a town called franklin maine, renting a house/cabin on a lake, fully furnished. we sold and closed on our house and have the 180k in the bank!

our furniture had to go in storage and we have not been able to buy the cape cottage we put the offer on because it has deed/tittle issues that have not been resolved.... :( we heard that the tittle could be cleared by the end of next week.... we have our fingers crossed but are continuing to look for another home to buy just in case....

where we are staying on the lake is beautiful, but it only has dial up sooooooo, to prevent totally becoming insane, i am not posting that much.....plus we have been really busy...going out every day looking at homes....

the fear on the lake cabin is the steep gravel road getting down to it, when the snow hits....we need to find a plow guy, willing to do it.... :(

hope all is well with you!

I've already heard rumblings that Obama was involved in a shady land deal ala Harry Reid.

What the Bush's did was look at Bush's weakest points..

Draft dodger for example and then project those points onto the opponant.

Then simpleminded Ameircans confuse reality with mudslinging and dont know who to belive. If you have a bad trait and you accuse your opponant of that bad trait... well then the public cant figure out whe really has the bad trait and many just let there eyes glaze over and assume its all just equal mudslinging on both sides.
