However, the main point being made here (by the kids, and yourself) is absolutely correct. A covid virus is ~100 nanometers (or 0.1 micron), and a mask rated for particles of size 3,000 nanometers (or 3.0 microns) or larger is not going to stop it.

The approximate diameter of a methane molecule is 2.75 angstroms or 0.275 nanometres, the figure you quoted is the molecular diameter or the distance between molecules.

Yup, that's what I corrected him on (although you've correctly added in more specifics)... otherwise, his main point was on point.
