I'm not saying we should accept injustice. Because it won't go away doesn't mean we should accept it. Just as violence is a part of the human condition doesn't mean we have to accept all violence. I was speaking to the national anthem. To my knowledge, the national anthem is sung as unity for us as Americans. We could change that in the future by never singing the national anthem, or no one stand, or we all turn our back to the flag or we all kneel for various forms of injustice. That's always an option but would that maintain its effectiveness in the long run?

In the past without question but not really now. That hold is used by the British police but they don't use the knee and the upper part of the leg for obvious reasons. Here is another for you to consider where a Hispanic officer killed a black guy. He was charged and acquitted but fired from the police department. Was that racism or just an poorly trained idiot?

I used to go to community council meetings on occasion and at the beginning of each one they said the pledge of allegiance standing up hand over heart of course.
I always felt so stupid because it reminded me of third grade. And my wife who is a German citizen , not even dual citizenship, would be there .:palm: If there are Russians or Chinese attending would they be expected to pledge allegiance to our flag?
If I were in the military or boy scouts, I get it. But not as a private civilian citizen. It's not like we're at war.
I find the expectation of honoring your country to be childish especially when there are parts of this country I have no respect for and would just as soon be part of another country.
