The current net neutrality rules, approved in 2015, internet providers like Comcast and AT&T are barred from deliberately speeding up or slowing down traffic from specific websites and apps. Seems more like ending consumer protection than "deregulation," got to love the "requiring Internet services providers to be transparent," which means another two lines on the two page single spaced "terms of agreement" nobody reads

Should be interesting to see what all those good ole boys will wake up and suddenly find out they have to pay extra to get their Brierfarts and Info Wars
 
this is easily resolved by opening up competition for new internet providers, thereby eliminating the monopolies the AT&T, comcast, Time Warner, and others have on internet communications globally.

Right, someone is going to undertake a new business to compete with the oligarchies, good luck with that one

We are lucky in that we live in a sparsely-populated rural area (the entire township of 162 sq miles has only 600 full-time residents) that nonetheless has two competing wireless Internet providers that offer high-speed service. There is also HughesNet (ugh). In our former city (STL), there were two and only two cable Internet providers -- AT&T and Charter. We tried 'em both. Much happier with what we have now: more reliable, faster, and no throttling during high peak usage times.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be for similar providers to break into a smallish market like STL. I imagine it would be extremely difficult for larger markets like Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, Sacramento, Denver, etc.

How fascinating that our so-called champions of freedom here are uninterested in a free Internet, and are willing to let corporations decide for them what they can access and what they can't.

and do you think that 'maybe' removing some of those roadblocks while letting these oligopolies lose customers because they are restricting their services just might make a difference?
