On the morning of Nov. 23, 2006, Donnelly began praying and studying the Bible, acting out of sorts and interpreting events of the morning as a message from God that he needed to kill his wife.
When he returned home that night, he found his daughter at the computer and took it as a sign that God wanted him to kill her.
Donnelly’s wife, Patricia, returned home to find Stephanie dead in the living room. Donnelly was found a few hours later praying in front of the Mountainview Alliance Church. He had blood on his hands.

A Cypress man charged in the death of a Southwest Airlines flight attendant said Saturday that he was doing God's work when he went to a Montrose-area bar last month, hunting for a gay man to kill.
"I believe I'm Elijah, called by God to be a prophet," said 26-year-old Terry Mark Mangum, charged with murder.

An inmate at the Sebastian County Detention Center in Fort Smith is dead after apparently being strangled by another inmate. Jailers found Gary Wolf laying on his bunk, covered up and unresponsive around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Chief Deputy Tom Young says as deputies were making rounds, when Ashley Kaufman told them to check on Wolf. Deputies called EMS and first responders. According to Chief Deputy Young, Kaufman later admitted that he had killed Wolf.
"He told investigators that he thought God had told him to do this," Chief Deputy Young said.
