Another hate email making the rounds

I got this email recently. Scroll to the end for my rebuttal to the sender.

Regarding the bolded words, showing the soles of the shoes is an insult in Arab culture (you can substitute "Muslim" here.) The writer is concerned that Muslims will be disrespected by the picture. For nine years conservatives have tried to paint Muslims as the vicious enemies of the U.S. Now they're worried about giving offense.

Proof positive that irony is dead.

Does this photo of President Obama in the Oval Office convey anything about his attitude and arrogance?

Would you speak with the Chief of Staff, your Chief Economics Adviser, your Senior Adviser, or anyone, with your feet up on the Resolute Desk - a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880?

This arrogant, immature, self-centered man has no sense of honor, or simple decency.

While this posture is disrespectful in any culture, it is not appropriate in any executive setting. Further, in over half of the cultures of the world, it is recognized not only as disrespectful, but as an extreme insult.

He thinks of himself as a king, not as a servant of the people, humbly occupying our White House for his term in office.

Electing him was an enormous mistake and will cost us in many ways, for generations.

No additional comments are necessary.

Does this also mean that very soon, Obama will be wanting to know what the definition of "is" is?? :good4u:

leaning right, damocles, paperman, you guys are comical. Ignore the bush picture and focus on Ford, if that's your gripe. It's not about the rightness or wrongness of putting their feet up on the desk. Personally I think it's a 99% guy thing, lowbrow but not wrong, and I don't care if every single president has done it.

The real problems with this email are 1) that the writer is using a double standard to criticize somebody he obviously hates, while never applying his test to the other 43; and 2) the faux outrage about the Arab world after nine years of RW demonizing Muslims. People like the writer still use "Obama = Muslim" as one of their favorite insults, but now he's worried that some random schmo in Saudi Arabia who stumbles across the picture will be insulted?

Irony is dead and conservatives killed it.

If being partisan and saying something about one President or person of a party that has been done by another President or person of another party is considered hate then is there anyone who follows politics who isn't full of hate?

What do you want me to say? I don't have a problem with Obama putting his feet up on a desk. The original email is a waste of energy on the part of the author. Every President has probably propped his feet up on a desk. I don't care. The email was stupid. But I don't see the hate.
