No, but people who see a psychiatrist are. It saddens me that this guy was under psychiatric care and allowed to buy all those weapons.

With all the technologies available to us today, why can't someone come up with a psychiatric test to administer prior to someone getting a gun?

At least that gun range owner had the sense to throw him out.

So seeing a psychiatrist/psychologist should automatically disqualify you? Millions of people per year are under the care of a mental health provider. Some for minor depression, some because they are trying to overcome issues from childhood. In the US if you are found incompetent in a civil proceeding then you cannot possess a fire arm. Absent that, then you can own them.
