A conservative radio host in Nashville who derided vaccines and spread misinformation about the coronavirus has died of COVID-19. Phil Valentine was 61.

Though Valentine downplayed the efficacy of vaccines and even went so far as to record a parody song mocking them, he reversed his opinion while in the hospital, advising his family members to get the jab.

Doctors, nurses, EMTs and other healthcare workers are so pissed at these people.

Can you imagine being worked to death battling this disease. Exhausted with overtime, trying to keep it together, be parents, carry on with life, finally get to the peak in late January, start seeing light at the end of the tunnel, yaay - vaccinations, only to be right back where they were, worse than ever because of outright stupidity.

It must be so hard to give compassionate care and know that these people could have prevented this if only they listened to the CDC and our excellent government.

But they are too busy spreading BS to even stop for a second and wonder if maybe they should reconsider.

The power of BS and peer pressure.

Deadly.

And not only are they dying, but they are making life miserable for others, and taking away vital services for everyone else who is doing the right thing.

Others are dying because they can't get an ambulance in time for all the usual emergencies that happen.

It is just this kind of thing that makes it all the more justifiable to have mandates.

Morbitities are non-partisan. Try and learn that. Anyone with morbidities is eligible for a rough ride with any DISEASE. Get wise. Shape up.

New COVID variant detected in South Africa, most mutated variant so far

A new coronavirus variant, C.1.2, has been detected in South Africa and a number of other countries, with concerns that it could be more infectious and evade vaccines, according to a new preprint study by South Africa's National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform.

Scientists first detected C.1.2 in May 2021, finding that it was descended from C.1, which scientists found surprising as C.1 had last been detected in January. The new variant has "mutated substantially" compared to C.1 and is more mutations away from the original virus detected in Wuhan than any other Variant of Concern (VOC) or Variant of Interest (VOI) detected so far worldwide.

The study also found that the C.1.2 lineage has a mutation rate of about 41.8 mutations per year, which is nearly twice as fast as the current global mutation rate of the other variants.

While first detected in South Africa, C.1.2 has since been found in England, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritius, New Zealand, Portugal and Switzerland.
