You want to see real high-class christians Beefy? Go to Christian chat net and visit the evangelical appologetics forum. Having an abortion is the same thing as shooting a baby to some of them.

And they make the dumbest arguments like until you can prove that one gay couple out of half a million wants to adopt a child, then you can't make a case that gay adoption will reduce the numbers of orphans that need to be adopted. And when you prove them wrong, a corrupt mod will ban you for a week.

Study the Council of Nicea, 325 AD, where Jesus was voted in as the Son of God.

Did you know that King James was a homosexual pedophile who thought Jesus was in love with John?

Religion is for the weak .. seriously weak of mind.

You're the christian .. don't you know .. or did you just put on your mamas religion like a old pair of shoes like most people do?

CLEARLY, they are two seperate issues in a plethora of issues that determine that religion is for fools.

Do your own research .. I don't like you enough to do it for you.

You're a bimbo.

There is this thing called goggle.

But don't feel bad .. most christians don't know shit about christian history.

I looked some, only at Whistlestopper could I find links. I wanted a bit more gravitas, went for .edu and .org. Nada. Being Catholic, I'd be interested if I found something like that out, but BAC, just not finding.

Okay, please note the difference between the First Council of Nicea, which was called to make a unified doctrine, and the second council which met primarily to restore icons which were rejected in the Byzantine Empire.

The purpose of the council was to resolve disagreements in the Church of Alexandria over the nature of Jesus in relationship to the Father; in particular, whether Jesus was of the same substance as God the Father or merely of similar substance.

Note here, BAC especially, that the argument wasn't whether he was Divine, but whether he was made of exactly the same stuff as God, or merely something close to it. In other words were Christ and God the same or separate entities. This is where the "Trinity" or the "Three in One" was first brought forward as doctrine. There wasn't an argument about the divinity of Christ, it was over whether he was simply God, or Divine but separate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Council_of_Nicaea

They voted overwhelmingly in favor of the Trinity, all but two voted against the Arian doctrine of equal and different...

The idea that they just then came to the conclusion of his Divinity is a misrepresentation of the council and what the "debate" was. They also exaggerate the actual "debate". The idea of separate but equal Deities was so soundly defeated that it would almost be ridiculous to call it a debate.

(BTW - I would agree with BAC about most Christians knowledge of the history of the religion, but I would also state that often those against the religion are often misled by quick reads that promote a negative side to things, such as an exaggeration and misconception of the first council of Nicea.)
