Anyone else thinking

Agreed. Both Trump and his MAGAts don't realize the concept of setting a precedent and how breaking international law could blowback in our faces.
Yes.
Intelligent people weigh the consequences and risks of actions.

I doubt Trump invited alternative viewpoints from his advisors, or spent even five minutes really thinking about the best interest of the United States in the long run.

Agreed on all points.

As for Trump, I think this is more about distraction than forward thinking.

I didn't know they were indicted.

You idiots seem to struggle with this very simple concept. I remember Obama literally bombing and killing an American citizen in a foreign country that didn't even have a traffic ticket. Do you? (wait, he did get busted for picking up a prostitute years before. Just to be accurate)

You're doing it again. Falling for the same scumbags that have been exploiting your TDS for years. Stop following evil scum and start thinking for yourself. Just trying to help, as usual.
He was designated enemy combatant.

Not only that, he broke the cherry and now everyone is more likely to do it.

There is a real reason the US doesn't do things like this. Same for assassination, and lets hope he doesn't break that one next.
Maybe he should. Trump has decimated the ranks of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies by replacing competent, experienced officers with political lackeys. Ironically, this is what Venezuela did as part of their downfall. The danger is that Trump's actions have opened up the US to terrorist attacks.

There's the NeoCons and the ones who oppose Neocons.

You are a Neocon.
TBH, I doubt Fredo can think that far ahead. He seems to bounce around like a ping pong ball inside a Bingo cage.

As for the accusations the Trump administration is NeoCon, I disagree mainly because he has no interest in building anything except a bigger bank account. Trump has no interest in spreading democracy and American ideals. To be clear, I'm not supportive of neocon values. I'm simply pointing out a greedy, immature pedophile and oath-breaking traitor isn't one. This entire Venezuela action seems primarily geared to distract from the Epstein Files while also tossing some red meat to his oil oligarchs.

From Google AI: what is a neocon in simple terms?

A neocon (short for neoconservative) is a person who supports a modern form of conservatism that primarily advocates for an assertive, interventionist U.S. foreign policy to promote democracy and American ideals abroad, often including the use of military force.

Key Beliefs
The core tenets of neoconservatism, particularly regarding foreign policy, include:

  • Assertive Foreign Policy: A belief that the U.S. should actively promote its national interests and democratic values globally, using its significant military power to do so.
  • Democracy Promotion: The idea that spreading democracy to other nations will lead to a more stable and peaceful world, based on the "democratic peace theory" (democracies generally do not wage war against one another).
  • Preemptive Action: A willingness to use military force preemptively to neutralize perceived threats to American security, rather than relying solely on diplomacy or international consensus through bodies like the United Nations.
  • American Exceptionalism: A conviction that the United States is a uniquely moral force for good in the world and has a duty to lead.
  • Skepticism of the Welfare State: On domestic issues, neoconservatives generally favor free markets and limited government intervention in the economy, though they don't seek to eliminate the welfare state entirely, differentiating them from some other conservatives.

True. At least in theory and on paper that was supposed to be what Neocons were about.

OTOH, Dick Cheney was the poster boy for Neocons, and I don't think he really gave a shit about democracy in Iraq. A functioning democracy in Iraq would mean the pro-Iranian Shia majority would routinely win elections.

I think Cheney would have been happy if a small minority of secular Sunnis gripped power, even if they had authoritarian roots, as long as they could be counted on to align with American strategic interests.

Agreed on Cheney and the other oil billionaires in the circle around GW.
