So essentially the notion that we are causing harm to the environment for greenhouse gases is bogus? We are not effecting the climate?
Exactly. One side uses the "data" from this "science" to push for less domestic energy production in an attempt to force production into the venue they perceive to be the "best"...I am beginning to agree with you on this. All of the restrictions placed on companies because of the doctrine of "man caused" global warming are looking pretty useless (and harmful to the economy) in light of the evidence that is coming out. Don't anyone get me wrong, I am for protecting the environment in a lot of ways. Nature is very important to me....if an industry is polluting a river or the air, make them clean up their act. Just don't put unecessary restrictions on a company because what they do "might" cause problems based on science that used "massaged" evidence.
The data that led to the 'hockey stick' appears (from the emails) to have been massaged to the point that it shows the increase. Since the original data is no longer available, no one can check it. Thus, we have to take their 'word' for it.
As far as effecting the climate (ie... weather, temperature etc...) I don't think we have anything to show that is true.
That said, we do have an impact on the environment in the form of air, water and land pollution and we need to address these.
Hopefully they recreate the missing data. I think its bad that we may reverse course on environmentalism. Even if its not 'killing the planet' its definitely causing more cancers and more war.
