I googled it and so far I've seen things like "add captain morgons to apple juice"

Is this how people make it? O_O

Yes buy a 1 gallon jug of fresh apple cider (no preservatives). Go to your local wine store and buy an air lock. Add 1/2 to 1 lb sugar to the apple cider. Place air lock on jug. Place in your pantry for 2 to 3 months at 60 to 70 deg F temp.

If you want to covert it onto apple jack purchase a laboratory distillation flask and condensor. Poor hard cider into flask and connect to condensor. Heat using medium setting and collect fraction that distills at 170 deg F. Let age for a few months to a year.

At its simplest, hard apple cider is pressed and strained apples that are left to sit around until residual yeast on the apples' skin turns the sugar into alcohol. That's the traditional way to do it, how it was done for a long time. But today, most people prefer to use packaged yeast: this ensures that the cider will taste right, rather than being subject to a wild yeast, and it is the only way to succeed if the juice has been pastuerized, which is usually the case unless you press your own apples.

You still need the air lock or it will just turn into vinegar.

Yea, buy some hard cider at the local grocery. Pour a shot of expresso vodka into it. A shot of gran marnier (or orange laquoer if your a cheap bastard) is also good.

are you actually personally familiar with those or did you just google? are you even old to drink? :cof1:

No, I'm not old enough to legally drink, but I do it anyway. There's no age requirements on brewing equipment.

BTW grind, I think you need to buy more than just the yeast.

You could use this:

You'd also have to buy some bottles to bottle it yourself, which will cost about 30 dollars.

I'd go with just buying some premade stuff.

I prefer the wild yeasts honestly, more like a lambic.

I recommend you always use a large glass and make sure the cider is chilled.

I hope that helps. :cof1:

In 1970 - 1973 there was a brand called HARD CIDER and it was the best.
Tasted just like apple juice and it came in brown bottles.
You could drink as much as you wanted, as long as you didn't stand up. :chesh:

I don't think it's been in production, for a long time.
I'd buy some, if I could find it.
