Are fireworks too dangerous to use?

In post #110, I simply stated: "Yeah, real men know not to be stupid and get hurt playing with fireworks." Would you care to show where, in that sentence, I boasted about me being a real man?

So are you saying you're not a real man?

Here are your boasts:

So, are you a real man?

Those are boasts? I was stating my opinion. And no where in either of those two posts (#113 was your post, btw) did I boast that I was a real man who is smart enough not to do anything stupid.

So it comes down to it. Did I make any boast about myself??

You implied it. Do you repent of your boasting now?

What? No, I never did any such thing. I stated my opinion about what a "real man"is, in this context.

If you are unable to admit that, you have some issues of your own.

And since I never boasted or discussed whether I consider myself a "real man", the question concerning whether I have ever done anything stupid or whether I think I am a real man is not part of the topic.

So lets stick with the dangers of fireworks.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission just released its annual fireworks report for 2011.

The numbers are estimates, but you get the picture.

In 2011, there were four deaths and 9,600 emergency room visits due to fireworks; 65 percent of those injuries occurred between June 17 and July 17.

Other interesting facts: more than two-thirds of injuries happened to males.

Nearly 26 percent happened to children under the age of 15.

Think sparklers are a safer alternative?

Think again.

It’s estimated that more than three times as many injuries were due to sparklers than bottle rockets, 1,100 to 300.

Almost half (46 percent) of injuries were to fingers and hands, followed by the eyes (17 percent), and the head, face and ears (also 17 percent).

It’s going to be an especially bad year for fireworks.

The extreme heat and dryness we’ve been having won’t help matters any.

Let's find out what you meant by your boasts.

Sounds like someone did something stupid. I don't consider idiots to be "real men". lol

Do you consider yourself a real man?

I stated my opinion on a facet of the topic. If you want to insist that is boasting, for whatever reason, I am not arguing about it any longer.

So a man that does stupid things with fireworks isn't a real man?
