Herman Cain announced Saturday that he is suspending his campaign for president, telling a crowd of supporters in his home state that the allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity had become too big a burden on his family.

His wife Gloria standing by his side in a rare public appearance, Cain decried the sustained accusations as false and declared he is "at peace" with his wife and with himself. But he said the claims have "sidetracked and distracted" from his ability to present a new vision for the country, as well as impacted his ability to raise money.

i don't see how this guy can quit over false allegations. if he is truly innocent, quitting is not the way to show it or the way to treat liars. he lets them win.

i think he is guilty.

I'm betting his people (campaign folks, etc.) smell a rat.
 
I think he's innocent, but this point, there's too much public doubt to justify continuing his campaign, and he no longer has a shot at the GOP nomination. Dropping out was the right thing to do.
 
White's attorney practically dared Cain's people to file a defamation suit. If it is false all he would have to do is file the suit, then the burden would shift to White to prove what she said was true. If what she said was truly false he could have easily gone after her and regained the upper hand. There is a reason he isn't.
 
1) if it's true, wtf was he thinking when he began his campaign.....that he could keep it a secret?.....
2) if it's false, why is he quitting?......
