Are the Congressional Republicans growing up?

I see only one of those that illustrates direct spending cuts.

You only see that which your partisan blinders allow you to see counselor; you're stuck on a special brand of partisan stupid that can only be overcome by growing some intelligence and honesty. I won't hold my breath for that event.

I still haven't seen a coherent reason from you as to why we should allow Congress to keep raising the debt limit infinitum.

When is enough, enough? 17.324 Trillion and climbing at the rate of $1.9 MILLION every minute. This does not include the massive and even larger debt of unfunded pension liabilities.

The total amount of the unfunded liability comes out to just over 100 trillion dollars, or approximately $33, 000 for every man, woman, and child in the country.

So tell me sage counselor; what is the intelligent argument for doing NOTHING but increasing debt infinitum?

See, I asked you to give me bills they are willing to call to a vote.... you just gave me a bunch of lip service and crap...

The only one on this thread full of lip service and hyperbolic crap would be YOU counselor. Of course one thing we will NOT see out of the Senate; anything that CUTS Federal spending.

WASHINGTON—The House on Thursday narrowly passed a bill curtailing spending on food stamps, setting up a battle with the Senate, which backs far smaller cuts. The vote was 217-210.

WASHINGTON — The Republican-controlled House of Representatives passed legislation to cut $60-billion-plus from hundreds of federal programs early Saturday, in what House Speaker John Boehner described as "one of the largest spending cuts in American history."

..............

The 235-189 vote broke largely along party lines, and marked the most significant victory to date for the freshman Republicans elected last year on a promise to attack the deficit and reduce the reach of government.

All 235 votes in favor were by Republicans, but three GOP members voted with 186 Democrats against the bill.

..............

The House of Representatives passed Cut Cap and Balance act Tuesday night by a vote of 234-190 in a vote divided largely down partisan lines, although the bill is unlikely to advance any farther in the legislative process.

The bill would cut total spending by $111 billion in FY 2012 and caps total federal spending by creating a “glide path” that limits spending at 22.5 percent of GDP next year and gradually decreases spending levels over 10 years levels until locking in at 19.9 percent of GDP in 2021.

House Approves Bill With Massive Spending Cuts After All-Night Session

The fiscal 2013 defense spending bill, which passed the House July 19, won’t allow Pentagon officials to spend at will. Instead, it includes more oversight on the Defense Department.

“In this environment of fiscal austerity, we must also recognize that even the Pentagon should not have carte blanche when it comes to discretionary spending,” said Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) in a statement.

WASHINGTON — The House passed emergency short-term legislation Tuesday to cut federal spending by $4 billion and avert a government shutdown. Senate Democrats agreed to follow suit, handing Republicans an early victory in their drive to rein in government.

The House approved a defense appropriations bill Wednesday that would cut $5 billion from the Pentagon’s non-war budget while prohibiting sequester-related furloughs.

The measure, which passed by a vote of 315 to 108, provides $28 billion above current non-war spending under the government-wide spending cuts that took effect in March.

Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.), chairman of the House appropriations committee, said the bill “strikes a balance between fiscal responsibility and sufficient support for our military.”

.....................

(Reuters) - The House of Representatives on Saturday approved legislation to cut federal spending deeply through September, a plan that is sure to be stopped by President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats in the Senate.

The Republican-backed bill is a challenge to Obama to show he is serious about closing record budget deficits and sets up the possibility of government shut downs if a compromise is not worked out by March 4, when current funding expires.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

To blame the liberals exclusively is ludicrous.

Why? Aren't they the ones in charge right now?

Dunce.

The Republicans don't want to address individual spending, they simply want to stop paying the bills.

This is nothing but outright bullshit counselor; what is it about you Liberals and your unadulterated propensity to make shit up?

What is the more responsible thing to do, cut spending, or stop paying the bills? What happens when you stop paying your electric bill?

If you CUT spending dunce, then you can afford to PAY your bills. This isn't about paying bills dumbass; it is about borrowing/printing money to pay for them because the REVENUE is not enough to cover the SPENDING. IN other words, for those of you who are brain dead Liberals and math challenged, we have a SPENDING problem.

Why no, none of those dire consequences this fear mongering arrogant hyper partisan President warned the American sheeple would occur happened. Once again illustrating that this Liar and Cheif places politics above what is right.

Whats your opinion on why the republicans capitulated?

Because you are a dishonest dunce who answers questions with more questions and attempts to wallow in the circle of stupidity, I will keep trying until you answer my questions:

So, you believe the House Republicans should dig in and refuse to increase the debt ceiling?

The Congressional Republicans suffered the lowest public opinion numbers ever for them. In other words, they suffered the scorn of their bosses, the American People.

The increase of the debt ceiling is not the problem, its the symptom. The Problem is the spending.

why is it Rs presidents spend more you idiot?

/shrugs....they don't......

over eight years Bush overspent more than all previous presidents combined......in five years, Obama has overspent more than Bush plus another $3trill.......now he needs the debt limit raised again.....

That is dire? I thought you were worried about what it was doing to the American people, which according to the liar and chief, would impact the economy and recovery.

I had no idea you were so concerned about the public opion ratings of Republicans.

So you are saying they should or should not increase the debt ceiling?
You know my position on this, so stop pretending that you don't. They should cut all government programs that are not enumerated in the Constitution. Do it gradually over a reasonable time period; the first year to balance the budget, subsequent years to eliminate the debt. Taxes should be reduced along with this to help grow the economy. "Pay to play" programs like Social Security should be gradually phased out by allowing younger works to opt out.

I'd start by going after the Department of Agriculture. Their policies have been destructive to the nation and I believe it would be the easiest to dissect, even with partisan politics.

Mandatory Budget: $123 Billion
Discretionary: $23 Billion
