DC and other Blue cesspools had long denied fundamental civil rights to those who lived in their jurisdictions. The foremost impact of Heller was simply the acknowledgement of civil rights for ALL Americans.

But it went further, it stipulated that not only do THE PEOPLE have a right to possess arms, we have a right to BEAR, that is carry arm. Is that right absolute? Nope - and some mindless hate blog has you convinced this is somehow a gotcha that negates the reality of both the Constitution and Heller. No more than prohibitions of fraud negate the right to free speech.

The supreme court says he has the right to carry a gun. The Supreme Court says the Constitution trumps California laws. The homeowner has not been proven to be in violation of Constitutional law.

In a 6–3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that New York's law was unconstitutional and that the ability to carry a pistol in public was a constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment.
