How do the jackpots work where you have a pocket pair and get beat by trip Aces?

I hit one last night but I'm not sure what the dude had who beat me.

Was this at a casino or online? Each place has their own types of jackpots. How much did you win?

at a casino. I had pocket Kings and lost.

I won 6K, guy who beat me got 2K and rest of table got $320 each.

Its a bad beat jackpot. Usually, they require that both players use both hole cards, and that someone must lose with aces full or better. Then the loser of the hand gets the lion's share of the money, the winner gets some and the table splits the rest. But each casino has varying rules. What did the other guy have, and what was your final hand?

Bad beat jackpot is exactly what it was. I was so tired and drunk I can't even remember the last hand. I was all in with the pocket kings and after the flop the guy who beat was yelling for a four and then an ace I believe and both came.

I really can't remember the hand I was in shock.

You must have ended up with 4 kings and the other guy must have made a straight flush.

What casino where you at?

Can I borrow $6 grand?

Commerce casino in L.A.

I was down $1,100 at the time, I gave $300 to the dealer, and then every employee working seemingly hit me up on my walk out. They gave me $6k and and I left with $5,400 - $5,500.

My first call when I got home was of course to IRS to make sure they would tax me on the winnings... yeah right.

I like the Commerce and the Bike. I play mainly at hollywood park though. Really bad players there.

But come tax time, they'll get you. Keep track of your "losses" to offset the win there. Make it wash.

Seriously? How do they know to come after you? Does Commerce report it? I thought they only reported wins over $10k?

I know about how much I've lost there this year, do I need to show proof somehow?

Yeah, they did take my license so maybe that's what it was for.

Yep, you're gonna get w-2d. If you have a marker at the Casino, start using it, cashing the chips in, and then paying them by check. It'll show a loss to cover the the extra income the jackpot gave you. If you don't have a marker, try to get one.
