To assume that one person is better able to provide diversity than another solely on the basis of their race is the very definition of racism, is it not?

Any systematic favoritism of one group over another based on some ‘identity’ standard, rather than objective merit, is discrimination against those not receiving the favorable treatment.

I kinda like America as a melting pot, multicultural nation, with lots of variety in music, food, language, and a strong, healthy, genetic makeup, due to many people having multiple genetic backgrounds.


I personally am German, German-Jew, Irish, Norwegian, and English. My Wife is Spanish, Native American, Mexican, French Native American, French Canadian and possibly Asian (Chinese).


My daughters are all that mix. My grand kids add in new lines of Irish, German, Italian, Norwegian.


Because of the large mix, we have good health, high IQs, and strong immune systems.


I am a firm believer in Mutts are better, and thoroughbreds are often inbred.

Intent does not negate the act. A fireman who burns down a building to ‘save’ the people inside is still guilty of arson. Calling it ‘affirmative action’ or ‘equity’ is just a euphemism that changes the packaging but not the contents: treating individuals differently, and often worse, because of their race. That is the textbook definition of racism.


If the goal is truly to help the disadvantaged, we already have race-neutral tools that work better and don’t violate the principle of equal treatment: income-based aid, zip-code targeting, first-generation college status, overcoming adversity essays, etc. The fact that advocates almost never accept these race-neutral alternatives as sufficient is the clearest evidence that the policy isn’t about helping the disadvantaged, it’s about engineering racial outcomes. And engineering outcomes by race is racism with extra steps.

When you use race to create "goals" for hiring you are falling foul of what I last posted. No matter how much you say you are doing it to "benefit <insert minority>" you are still providing goals based on "race".

The reality is, saying "it isn't a quota" doesn't change that it is still giving benefits to a "race" over other factors that could be used to determine need. I gave you some of those factors... but instead you just rinse and repeat.

No matter how many times you excuse it, if you use "minority status" to create your goals, however flexible, you are using racially charged and racist criteria.
