Average tax refund down 17 percent, IRS reports

Maybe you fuckheads should push to drive tax rates down rather than cry about the morsels the government decides to toss back.

We just cut taxes last year because you all said doing so wouldn't affect refunds, would raise wages, would grow the market, and would increase revenues.

None of those things happened.

Stop being stupid, some who didn't make the adjustment paid less therefore received less back!

Yelling at people that it is their own fault for getting a lower tax refund is not a winning political argument.

It is about the worst political argument you could make.

My political argument is that the Trump trickle down tax cut scheme did not do anything it promised to accomplish, and now working class people - those who particularly rely on big refunds - are getting smaller refunds, or even owing money, thanks to Trump.

Also, Conservatives promised the Russia Tax Cut would raise wages by $4K-$9K.

They promised it would grow the market.

They promised it would increase revenues.

They promised it would stop outsourcing and offshoring.

They promised it wouldn't result in record stock buybacks.

Every promise they made has been wrong.

It is when you raised the tax liability by removing exemptions and deductions.

What have I misrepresented, and how did I misrepresent it?

But you don’t know whose tax liability has gone up or hasn’t gone up

There are too many unknowns.

You are being dishonest using tax refunds as a marker.

The fact is most people did nothing about their deductions. They have been the same for many years. However, they got a certain amount back, year after year. They expected that and counted on it. This year, with the difference being Trumps tax cut for the wealthy, they found they were getting substantially less than they had in the past. It alarmed them and pissed them off. That is how it should be.

Well you should be running campaign ads for the democrat party to run on massive tax increases. I am sure it will work wonders for them.

But you don’t know whose tax liability has gone up or hasn’t gone u

Sure we do. We know in what's already been filed with the IRS. That's what the OP is about.

There are too many unknowns.

Nope. Not at all. It's only going to get worse from here.

You all promised magical wage increases of $4K-$9K.

We've had a year of your Russia Tax Cut and none of the promises you made of it have come to pass.

NOT. ONE.

ou are being dishonest using tax refunds as a marker.

You're the ones who said there wouldn't be any change to refunds.

You're the ones who said wages would grow by $4K-$9K.

You're the ones who said it would pay for itself.

You're the ones who said it would stop outsourcing and offshoring.

You're the ones who said it wouldn't result in record stock buybacks.

Seems like you're the dishonest one here.

I am surprised that conservatives didn't learn any lessons from the Brownback trickledown tax cut experiment disaster in Kansas.

On the other had, maybe they had no intention of learning any lessons. I have always maintained that conservatives intentionally engineer massive budget deficits in a premeditated way, so they can later claim there is not enough money for a 21st century social welfare state.

None of the promises you made of your policy have been fulfilled.

None.

Revenues were 2% less in 2018 vs. 2017, which means the promise that there would be all this magical economic activity to generate revenues was false.

That is precisely what they do, and it's fiscal terrorism.

Conservatives fly planes of tax cuts into the budget, then complain about the aftermath of their attack and use it as an excuse to extract cuts to programs to which they are ideologically opposed, but lack any courage, will, and support to repeal through conventional legislation.

"interest free loans demanded by the government down by 17%, liberals still don't understand economics. More at 11"

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, who you support, said it would be "ridiculous" to say that refunds would be smaller this year.

He was wrong.

"interest free loans demanded by the government down by 17%, liberals still don't understand economics. More at 11"

How is this "economics"?

The economics of this are that GDP growth is going to be negatively affected because of smaller refunds this year, even after your guy promised that wouldn't happen.

So it seems all you people do is make promises that you have no intention of fulfilling, in order to trick people.

Find these magical quotes of mine. I never made any comments about increases of refunds. I never would.

I think it is a crime that people get refunds regardless the tax rate.

As I said it is intellectually dishonest to make an argument about tax policy based on refunds.

Knowing ones refund dos not give you a sense of their tax liability. That you think it does just proves your ignorance.
