Baby Boomers

I actually don't like to play the boomer, genx, millennial game.

When you think about it, it is just a fake sociological distinction probably made up by some losers in the media trying to think of ways to put a twist on pop culture and current events; a rhetorical device to make their crap stories they write seem more interesting by inserting so fake, contrived perception of conflict.

I work with people of all ages, from 20s to 70s. Trying to caricature people into neat little generational buckets doesn't actually happen in the real world.

The only real difference is people my age like cool ass music, The Mighty Zep, Black Sabbath, Floyd, Grateful Dead, Doors, Creedence, Aerosmith, U2, et al. I mean even up to Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day music was still pretty cool. But have you heard the crap music that has been coming out in the last 20 years? It's a nightmare, I tell ya!
I do. I know that ultimately their innate intelligence, energy And ability are no match for my experience, wisdom and treachery.

There have been a few bands within the last decade that made good music. But by and large I have to agree with you.

we just lost Tom Petty. I cannot think of a tighter rock band out there then the Heartbreakers.

They just finished their 40th anniversary tour. It wasn't as good as the 30th! lol..
( but that;s the point -40 years just ended) :)

Love this tweet about the Boomers. Not sure what she means about the environment but the rest is definitely true. (Of course there are many reasons for this but it's still fun to kick the Boomers)

Kim-Mai Cutler

They were born into a world with practically free higher ed, inexpensive housing, and pensions and are leaving behind a wall of crushing private and public debt, environmental degradation and a shattered state that had once enabled their upward mobility.
LMAO.... You are talking about your own generation....... Most of them are more educated etc...

I didn't really strt listening to him till the 90s. But yeah. It is sad that he died.

It seems that every generation thinks they had the best music. It's a constant argument at the dinner table between dad and gramps.

I believe that is pretty much true.... Although I have come to believe SRV is actually better than clapton~ & of course van halen...

I don't know if I'd say that. They're all good.

Typically I like my music a little heavier. FFDP, Shinedown, Bobaflex.

Yea...my father volunteered the draft in the mid 50’s because of the lottery. If you were in the lottery, but not drafted, you had a hard time finding work. So a lot of guys “volunteered” the draft. That way you only had serve two years vs four if you volunteered or were drafted.
'Nam was similar. You were going anyway, so you might as well sign up and get a better detail. I believe the Marines only took those who enlisted at the time

Just what I was thinking. They hate us for our music!

Sure...they can listen to it if they want....but they never got to SEE it. Like John Lennon said about the Beatles...'If you missed it, you missed it.'. (referring to the myriad reunion rumors)

One dynamic that has changed...when we were kids, we wouldn't dream of listening to our parents' music. As Boomers' kids grew up listening to great music, it stayed with them.

I suppose that's right.

See my parents were older when I came along. They were born at the tail end of the silent generation, and I we born at the end of gen x.

Now when I was little had to listen to them listing to early rock. Never much cared for it but the stuff from the mid 60s and into the 70s is another story.

there was no lottery until 1969.......it was put in place because of complaints that blacks were being drafted at a higher rate than whites.....every one who was drafted served two years active duty....if you volunteered you served six months active duty minimum, two years full duty, but you had to be on reserve for eight years.....most volunteers had to serve multiple active duty tours in Vietnam.....

Well...they aren't boomers. My folks were born at the beginning of the Silent Generation.

Ironically, as a kid I would NEVER listen to Ol' Blue Eyes. When I grew up, I could appreciate some of their music.

Of course, my mom always loved the Blues, which is where I got it from.

I don't think whack qualifies as a boomer.....I am considered a tail ender being born in 52.....by 55 the returning GIs of WW2 were pretty much done having children.......if you were born in the 60s you're just another moonchild, conceived in a psychedelic orgy......

only the army drafted.....Marines, Navy and Air Force were enlistment only.....two guys in my class enlisted in the Air Force to become mechanics.......

I had to laugh when my son was doing his homework listening to Rush and I started singing along......he freaked.....

I've never been much for the blues. Well kinda. I'm not sure what the genera is actually called. But it almost sounds like a mix between blues and hard rock with a Cajun bit to it.

My daughters like some of my music. The younger of the two more so than the older one.

Both my boys really enjoy most everything I listen to.
