Baby Boomers

I didn't really strt listening to him till the 90s. But yeah. It is sad that he died.

It seems that every generation thinks they had the best music. It's a constant argument at the dinner table between dad and gramps.
me 2 . the album Wildflowers did it for me
( You Wreck Me was a big hit off that).

I incorporated the Heartbreakers into my "must see" tour list -I'm glad I did. very tight band.
I met the very coolest woman I ever dated at a show, and I went to many of his concerts.

I consider Petty right up there with Dylan and Jeff Lynn and George Harrison -
oh wait ! that;s the Traveling Wilburys!

I might be an odd duck. But I never cared for concerts even though I've seen some great ones. To each their own. But I like my music when I'm alone.

oh man..live music is like a drug..it gets me high. I mean it..I can feel it not just hear it.

Nothing like the day of a rock and roll show:

Roll up some doobies, get out the traveling kit (chained wallet w/license and lots of cash and a credit card)
all while cranking up tunes and picking out which tour t-shit to wear.
Call your friends, meet up with a date if you're lucky...off we go!

If There's Rock Show
At The Concertgebow
They're Got Long Hair
At The Madison Square
You've Got Rock And Roll
At The Hollywood Bowl,
We'll Be There . . . . . . Oo Yeah . . . . . . .
( Rock Show -Wings)

Might be a generational thing.

At a concert I'm in a sea of people. I don't like people. The music always sounds horrible and I don't like looking over my shoulder.

In bars I'm OK. I have people there I trust.

Concerts. Not so much.

i dunno. I can't say I've ever been to a bad concert.
Maybe George Harrison (Dark Horse tour) back in '74 when he was snorting cocaine and had laryngitis

Back then you went and stood inline for tix. So my group of friends would pick somebody to stand in line
and we'd buy up a couple rows of seats. Pass around the pharmaceuticals and groove.

Yes, there's nothing better than seeing a good band live, I've been to over 100 concerts over the last 45 years, the last being the Scorpions just over a month ago.
Ronnie James Dio (RIP) said there's nothing better than making a good record and taking it out on tour, and he was good at it.

that's a lot of live music! I'm a veteran CosmicRocker too, but many I went too i sorta recall.

I kept most of my tix stubs ( now that they don't tear them in 1/2) .

I saw Led Zep 5 times back in the daze - but now that Petty is dead, there isn't really anyone left on my must see list. Fleetwood Mac -but i just saw them 2 years ago ( On with the Show! tour). I'd stand in line for them now that Christine McVie is back with them.

ELO is doing a tour next year, and the Moody Blues are doing a 50th anniversary tour..but the days of great rock and roll bands are numbered.

Thank god for YouTube! ( the live music lives on)

Fleetwood Mac reveal more about 2018 touring plans
Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham are currently promoting their self-titled joint album, which dropped on Friday (June 9). Meanwhile, Stevie Nicks is embarking on a solo tour that includes a huge show with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in London’s Hyde Park on July 9.

Asked about another Fleetwood Mac tour on The One Show, Christine McVie replied:
“We’re going to start rehearsing in March, next year. The tour is around June. It will be global.”

Funny story...
When I was 12, my parents, aunt and uncle went on a vacation and I was staying with my cousin. Her boyfriend had 4 tickets to see Alice Cooper. She said if I didn't tell my parents, they'd take me along. I was hooked ever since!

Alice Cooper?????? This was real rock.

:good4u:

Believe it or not I saw him do Hound Dog on Ed Sullivan in 1956. :whoa:

ADDED: I grew up in the 50's so all the oldies I remember. But the Beach Boys will always be my favorite group.

I remember my older sister singing "does your bubblegum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight" over and over and over......
