BAC Supports Iraq War

bac claims that anything the majority wants the government should and is justified in doing. Clearly, the majority favored the invasion of Iraq. The fact that they now have changed their minds shows just how insane such premises are.

The american people were sold this war on lies and deceptions. They were told we faced a grave, mortal, and imminent threat. Its really not a fair comparison.

to follow up:

If the american people had been told the truth in 2003: That iraq was not connected to 9/11, to al qaeda, or indeed to fundamentalist international jihaddist terrorism in any substantive way, and that we were invading to secure the oil there, and that any evidence of imminent threats and iraqi nukes was dubious, they would not have supported the invasion in 2003.

Although Americans were indeed dumb enough to support this war, they didn't ask for it or order it. Glaring difference that people with brains would have no problem understanding.

I don't think americans, at large, are dumb. They were lied to: by the media, by the politicians, and by talk radio. Many people are busy with life BAC: raising kids, taking care of sick parents, working, shopping. They couldn't stop to read the Guardian, Knight-Ridder, or the independent and foreign media that was telling the truth. The truth tellers were overwhelmed by the propogandists. There was always 30% of the population that are authoritarian-followers, that would have wanted to attack iraq no matter what. But, I don't want to lay this at the feet of americans at large.

People in America are stupid, we have been making terrible decisions on who we hire to run our government.

That is how we have to look at those whom we elect. Hirelings to run our country for us.

America never voted Bush into office.

but we as a whole did support his war....
People are pretty smart until you get a bunch of them together....

I refuse to accept that americans are any dumber, than anyone else on the planet. We've had bad leaders; but on balance, our country has thrived and historically been a beacon for some of the greatest progressive advances in human history. We're far from perfect, but neither have we historically been the Roman, French, or British empires. Altough neocons are trending us that way with lies and deceptions.

And if the american people are told the truth, and if voter turnout wasn't intentionally depressed (say we get 85% turnout like most other advance democracies) people like Bush, Gingrich, Tancredo, and other reactionary conservatives wouldn't even be mentioned as presidential candidates.

Umm it is mainly the 2 party system Cypress.
If you check on elections in other countries they have many parties and candidates running in many of them. And the vote is split up more.

there's no inherant advantage of a parliamentary system, IMO. Those citizens don't even get to choose their national leaders. The party elite do.

Its about corruption (or lack therof). Public financing would be a good step towards removing corruption. As well as electoral reforms: popular elections for prez, instant- runoff elections, and indepedent commissions to keep legislators from jury rigging congressional district boundaries.

Planet earth knew the fraud of this war from the beginning, and many of the leaders who followed Bush into this horror show have been kicked out of office by their own citizens.

One doesn't need the Guardian to recognize that "mushroom clouds in 45 minutes" was sheer bullshit. The trail of deception that led into Iraq was so deep you'd need a snorkel to wade through it.

The fraud of 9/11 is still staring Americans in the face and still many close their eyes and refuse to look. Planet earth know the truth.

The fraud of electronic voting has been conclusively proven for at least 4 years, yet here we go into another election season and American elections still haven't been protected against it.

Americans have a responsibility for our government and simply laying all this chaos at the feet of Bush, a man of limited intelligence, does not serve the future of America well.

As long as we remain trapped in the two-party quagmire, nothing will change.

Americans elected democrats to get us out of Iraq .. then 30,000 m ore troops were sent and troop level is the highest ever.

What are we going to do .. get mad and vote for republicans?

Third-parties, ballot access, and campaign financing are required to escape the trap .. and of course a more intelligent populace.

BAC: I don't think you realize the sheer magnitude of the deception perpetrated on average american citizens. Our "free press" is actually one of the least free presses in the developed world by all international standards. You can't expect people like my uncles, sweating their asses of in the coal mines, and trying to survive and provide for a family, to come home get on the internet, and read the british and french press to learn the truth.

The media joined hands with Bu$hCo., to sell a lie to the american people. My grandmother is not capable of telling if alumimun tubes or niger uranium is bullshit, unless the america media loudly and unanimously declares it bullshit. And if more dems and repubs with guts yelled at the top of their lungs that it was BS.

Americans WERE told the truth about Iraq and they rejected that truth and the people who told them.

We were also told the truth about our fraudulent voting system years ago .. and it's still fraudulent.

You can find someone who wil claim the American people have been lied to on any issue, and on many they have been.
