First, Matt, TOW is not a Christian.
Second, neither are you as established by your own words and lies on JPP.

Religion is a powerful thing, because of it's connection both to moral philosophy and to the seats of power (aka, government and nationalist movements), either for oppression or for liberation.
Religious organizations have done a lot for the poor, farm workers, civil rights, the imprisoned, and the ill.I will let other thread participants judge how credible your claim is that religions have never, ever, not one single time, provided any benefit to the human condition.
I have zero doubt you would drop to your knees in prayer before the gold-gilded Idol of Trump.
Speaking of worship, here is an extensive list of Trump-worshippers professing their love for The Donald, and declaring they would die for him >

Thanks for proving you don't care.![]()
like I give a fuck
Of course not. You're just a teenage girl and everything is about you. Good luck.![]()
Oh I care, just not about whether or not you think I am a Christian!
When These creeps tell everyone what they know what God wants in politics watch your backs
But I think religion is frequently more powerful than other intellectual traditions, precisely because it sits right at the nexus of moral philosophy and political power. It's human tool. Humans are the ones doing those things. Humans are the heroes and the villains.
There's a lot of people on this forum who want to go the way of Stalin and stomp out all religion, which makes them villains just like any other oppressor.

In that sense, Christianity was in a position to influence the end of the British slave trade in a way that English atheists never could.
On the flipside, the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church turned a blind eye to serfdom when it was becoming obvious to irreligious Russian liberal intellectuals that serfdom was a moral travesty.
History is always more complex than we can put into words. Religious history, political history, or military history.Religious organizations have done a lot for the poor, farm workers, civil rights, the imprisoned, and the ill.
Non sequitur, Matt. Your previous patterns of behavior AKA posts prove you don't give a shit about Christianity anymore than BidenPresident.
At least she doesn't wear a Christian mask pretending to be special. She's openly hostile to all humanity just like you but you claim you care...which makes you a liar.
I have actually had somewhat decent conversations with BP, I think that person is bat crap crazy but you are one of the most hostile people on the site you try to flame everyone! You belief, of whether or not I am Christian, matters not to me! You are starting to sound a lot like LV666 in that you need help! You have anger issues and should seek professional help!Nice rant, Matt. I can see why you think BP is "bat crap crazy". It's a form of projection.Openly hostile to all humanity?I have actually had somewhat decent conversations with BP, I think that person is bat crap crazy but you are one of the most hostile people on the site you try to flame everyone! I was just listening to a professor who said Tolstoy wrote War and Peace because he didn't think history could be organized into a neat coherent narrative of good guys and bad guys, right and wrong, or of an organized narrative on a trajectory towards a resolution.
Agreed on "a neat coherent narrative". LOL Thanks for the professor's comments.
Walter Lord's "A Time to Stand" is about the Alamo. While there was bravery and heroics on both sides, there were no saints either. Legend has blown them up to be larger than life, and clear Heroes and Villains, but, as you pointed out, there's a lot more to the story. Lord's book spells out the history.
I guess most of us of a certain age watched that Alamo movie which imparted a mythical understanding of the conflict between Mexicans and Texas rebels.
I always look for a sophisticated analysis of history. Anyone who claims religions are universally and relentlessly evil are no more credible than those who gloss over Religious oppression and intolerance.
Nice rant, Matt. I can see why you think BP is "bat crap crazy". It's a form of projection.
OTOH, I disagree. She's simply young and having some issues. Nothing she can't overcome but it's not fun to be in that place. You, OTOH, need to take your own advice.![]()
