Being smart is over rated

Your president, yesterday, unscripted, without prepared notes, and without a teleprompter:

You know, when you give a man more money in his pocket -- in this case, a woman more money in her pocket to expand a business, it -- they build new buildings. And when somebody builds a new building somebody has got to come and build the building. And when the building expanded it prevented [sic] additional opportunities for people to work....

My job is a decision-making job. And as a result, I make a lot of decisions. And it’s important for me to have an opportunity to speak to you and others who would be listening about the basis on which I have made decisions, to explain the philosophy behind some of the decisions I have made.

”I delegate to good people. I always tell Condi Rice, ‘I want to remind you, Madam Secretary, who has the Ph.D. and who was the C student. And I want to remind you who the adviser is and who the president is.’

"I got a lot of Ph.D.-types and smart people around me who come into the Oval Office and say, ‘Mr. President, here’s what’s on my mind.’ And I listen carefully to their advice. But having gathered the device (sic-“advice”), I decide, you know, I say, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’ And it’s ‘Yes, sir, Mr. President.’ And then we get after it, implement policy.

-George Bush

Oh......my.....God.

I will never forgive Bush voters. Never.

How, in a land of 300 million, did such a simpleton ever rise to the highest office?

LOL when i first saw the thread title i agreed. i have always believed that being smart if over-rated. In fact i think balance is the key.. What use is a genius if hes socially or emotionally inept.

But reading that is utter confusion. I dont even comprehend what point he is making other then that hes the dumb ass c student but what he says goes.

I have some first hand experience with a socially and emotionally inept genius, and the answer is; they're not much good to anyone for anything.

But the thing with bush is, I think he hit the jackpot. The trifecta as he likes to say. The guy's got nothing going for him.

Except the bed he was conceived in.

Of course, America is a meritocracy.

I'd probably feel a little sympathy for Bush, if he at least acted like he knew he was in over his head, a la Harding.

What has amazed me about him is that his arrogance has persisted through debacle after debacle. I think he really believes he's doing a heckuva job, and man, does he like that "decider" tag.

Stupidity, arrogance & detachment from reality are his most defining characteristics.

He wasn't as bad as Harding.

"I would like the government to do all it can to mitigate, then, in understanding, in mutuality of interest, in concern for the common good, our tasks will be solved."

Idiots often rise to the top post in America. It's just that most of them happen to be Republican, for some odd reason.

Purely coincidence!

Yes smart people say much less scary things:

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans ..." – Bill Clinton (USA TODAY, 11 March 1993, page 2A)

The purpose of government is to rein in the rights of the people. – Bill Clinton, 42nd US President

You can't say you love your country and hate your government. – Bill Clinton, 42nd US President

If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees. – Bill Clinton, 42nd US President

I can spend your money better than you can. – Bill Clinton, 42nd US President

Any president that lies to the American people should have to resign. – Bill Clinton, 42nd US President

Or the Algorism:
"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy – but that could change." – Al Gore

Everybody says dumb stuff, just look at every second post by uscitizen - oops sorry that should be each post uscitizen does every second.
See I did it. ;)

Are all those Bill Clinton things serious? Sheesh. Hopefully he was just in automatic president mode at the time and wasn't comprehending what he was saying.

It's kind of funny you could only find one thing about Al Gore there (couldn't bring yourself to bring out the internet quote again, could you?) All Gore's a smart guy. We'd be in a much better situation as a nation today if Al Gore would've won.

LOL goes to show you how bad bush is when people want clinton back in office and put him on a pedestal.. Only reason bore didnt win was because clinton was considered one of the worst presidents of all time back in 1999.

"Only reason bore didnt win was because clinton was considered one of the worst presidents of all time back in 1999."

I wouldn't exactly go that far. People were embarassed by the Monica scandal in '99.

Looking back, that scandal seems like such a teensy, tiny thing when compared to the debacles of the Bush admin. I think people realize that sex, ultimately, is just sex, but incompetence is something that really affects us.

In a way, Bush getting elected was probably one of the better things that could happen for Clinton's legacy...

Explain automatic president mode.

No we'd be in Iraq and the anti-war protest would be much smaller because lefties only oppose Repub wars. Look at the pathetic protest response to Kosovo under Clinton/Gore or how the Vietnam war protesters only really got going after LBJ left and Nixon came in.

Also that was the only Gore quote I found on the single site I was on. If you want more, there are more.
If you really want to laugh, check out this video where Al Gore is unable to identify the founding fathers and asks "Who are these people?". This is even after being told earlier in the tour who they were:

http://www.mediaresearch.org/realitycheck/1999/fax19990325.asp

I think only USAToday bothered to cover that huge gaffe, compare that to how the media covers Bush on his.

Also plenty of dumb Gore quotes there too.

Hillary's legacy not Bill's
What the turbo-libs need to realize is your getting the mantle back because of Iraq and the bullshit personal attack mentality and that the cons did exactly opposite of what they said they'd do with big gov and ethics.
