Bentley reveals its 209-mph, 'most powerful' car ever

I hate getting tickets more than I love passing other cars...

buy one of these and those tickets will go away. I have only had 3 in five years and it was because it wasn't on.

I had one of those and got three tickets in a year. Never again.

it wasn't a redline surely? This one cost me $499 and it was worth every penny. I drive over 60k miles per year and it was worth its weight in gold. People around me get tickets because they don't realize I have it and speed past me after I slow down after 100 miles or so.

No this was back in the late 80's. Of course it didn't help that I had an "arrest me red" Fox chassis TBird with custom wheels, fat tires, GT suspension and a small block.

oh, ok, probably a cobra or uniden back then. Escort makes radar guns and detectors so they are very good at what they do. It is the absolute best on Ka as state and city agencies are down to 3 bands compared to 11 a few years back so it is really sensitve now. Even on I-40 in the Smokies you get a 1.5 mile warning usually. K is a little annoying but after getting used to it, it is no problem. The only drawback is laser as it will get scatter but if they are sitting in a rest area and drive by they will nail you with laser. It helps knowing what counties have it as there is usually a state grant involved because no department wants to fund that equipment.

I remember the Cobra name, so yeah that was probably it. I drive about 30k a year, much of it country two lanes, and it's just not worth risking a ticket. I just leave plenty of time and frequently take a shorter route instead of a longer, faster one in order to see more of the countryside.

My biggest frustration is getting boxed in by left lane hogs. Driving on the interstate type roads I've resorted to setting the cruise at 3 over and then bumping up to 7 over or more to pass. That seems to result in the fewest incidences of Leftist Pacers.

yeah I hate the left laners, I never use the cruise as i get boxed in too much. I have been thinking about a frequency buster but I think they are illegal as you are disrupting service. It will prevent anyone in front of you are within 50 yards of your car from using their cell phone or texting.

I've been considering grill mounted machine guns, flame throwers, or perhaps a fork lift with some type of ejection feature but I question the legality into these options as well.

god help you if you need to turn though. Outside of drag racing I don't get it about lead sleds?

Saw a video recently of an 1800 bhp Camero. It went from 0 to 200 like a millennium falcon. Then the driver tried to turn....

I know where to do it and where not to. I like twisty roads too.
Yup...me too. Nice thing where I live is that we have great farm access roads so it's not difficult to find someplace where you can get on it.

My preference is for rally cars over muscle cars are really only good for drag racing. Very few have good handling characteristics and are to heavy to be competitive on a track.

Also the higher end rally cars are even more practical than most muscle cars with more storage space. I'm awfully fond of the Ford Focus RS which is actually faster and quicker with superior handling to Right's Charger RT. It better be. It cost almost $10 k more.

Sure you are. Why else start a thread about a car with a price tag above $200k? (probably WELL above that mark)

And I have driven a Tesla Model S. Most impressive acceleration I've ever seen.
I have not driven a Tesla but I have driven a prototype electric car and the lack of lag when you accelerate is impressive.

Retrogrouch. Tesla's are way cool. Fairly impractical but way cool. They just have so much cutting edge technology.

Impractical in some areas for long trips. But 250 miles is good for everything else.

The acceleration is phenomenal. I have been fortunate enough to drive some serious performance vehicles. The Tesla is more like a launch than anything else.

The technology is nothing short of amazing. When I took a test drive with a friend who was considering buying one, the Tesla tech was telling us how to set the chime to let us know when we reached a certain mph above the speed limit. My friend asked if they used Google Maps to get the speed limits in a given area. No. There is a camera behind the rearview mirror that reads the speed limit signs, including the LED ones. The car READS THE FUCKING SPEED LIMIT SIGNS.

I was impressed with that and numerous other bits about the car. They are almost common here in Atlanta. I know 2 people who own Tesla Model S's. They love them.

I'm not saying the performance isn't impressive, what I'm saying is can you keep it up as long as you want? You have to recharge a Tesla. I can refill the tank in my Vette in about two minutes, how long does it take to get the Tesla ready to rock and roll again?

It depends on whether you recharge or replace the battery pack. Recharging is free at Tesla stations. There are starting to be more automated battery replacement centers. And you can replace the battery pack faster than you can fill a car up with gas.

Everywhere? I can find a gas station in the middle of West BFE. Can you replace a battery pack there?

Not yet. But then, I have already said that the Tesla is not the best for long distance travel. You will add an hour or two for a days travel. But then, how much will you spend on gas while the Tesla driver gets charged for free?

Yes, traveling in a Tesla is not as easy. But for most people, that is not an issue. Daily driving it is amazing.

When you can get back to me. Until then...well you know.
